Shame shifted: all 51 defendants found guilty. Every. Single. One.
[International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women] Every. Damn. Day.
“Shame must change sides” - Gisèle Pelicot, 72, waiving her right to anonymity in order for the trial to be public. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/23/a-soldier-a-nurse-a-lorry-driver-and-dozens-more-who-are-the-men-accused-over-and-assault-of-gisele-pelicot
(and yet. still. hard to see that, other than her husband’s, the longest sentence was only 15 years — “for a man who went to the couple’s house 6 times & did not use a condom despite knowing that he was H.I.V.-positive.”)
Thank goodness justice was served. And thank Gisele for going public. One brave lady helping every woman.
This has been a horrific case but she handled it with such poise and grace. And she is leading the charge for women to hold their heads up instead of cowering in the corner.
This woman has self-metamorphosized from a victim to an icon and pillar of fierce courage. So inspiring
And some still struggling with what is rape and not rape. I think having sex with an unconscious woman is rape however it’s being spun. A wake up!
Absolutely astonishing grit. What a legend.
Gisele Pelicot is a superhero in my book. I hope that so many other women hear her story and let go of any shame they may feel. Thank you Gisele! I am wishing you a wonderful life ahead!
TIME should have named her person of the year !
