Getting to serve Cone Health leaders and physicians last week was both a privilege and a reminder of what matters most in the work we do every day. Together, we explored how joy and engagement aren’t just nice-to-haves but essential elements of enduring high performance. After all, to truly thrive—and not just survive—in our personal and professional lives, we must find ways to enjoy what we do.
What struck me most during the Q&A was how deeply Cone’s culture aligns with this idea. Their values of caring for each other and inspiring pride, passion, and fun are more than just words; they’re lived practices. Many of the questions and reflections from the audience underscored this truth: joy isn’t optional; it’s vital.
In The Fun Habit, I talk about why we need to rethink how we approach joy, weaving it into our lives with intentionality. It is clear that Cone Health embodies this mindset by fostering environments where people can connect, grow, and find meaning in their work.
I’m grateful to have had the chance to contribute to this incredible community. As we head into 2025, my hope for everyone is to embrace the joy that sustains us, both at work and beyond.
Here’s to more fun, purpose, and connection in the year ahead! 🙌
