Attention business owners in Hunterdon County NJ and Somerset County, NJ County: The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board has posted a Request for Applicants for employers interested in using our grant-funded options for On-the-Job Training for new workers and Incumbent Worker Training for current workers. Over the past two years, we have worked with several companies who were able to use our grant funding to support their training needs. Responding to the RFA – either option A or option B or both - and supplying the necessary documentation will allow your business to apply for support for any individuals or cohorts you would like to have trained from the late November 2024 to June 30, 2025. A business does not have an employee or cohort in need of training right now, but being on the approved applicant list will allow the business to activate an OJT and/or incumbent worker training contract as the need and opportunity arises. Ok so i am going to rock the boat here but i am super interested on other peoples thoughts and perspectives. We all agree that every employee has the right to come home safely there is no question there! We also know that employers have an obligation to have a valid workers compensation policy in place. I am currently seeing clients policies on renewal sky rocketing due to claims and clients are being scalded with premiums that are purely from the restrictions in the current legislation limiting insurers in managing claims to prompt closure where applicable/necessary. I am ofcourse talking about those claims that are not your average claims, those that are unique if thats what you can call them 🤷♀️ My question is…. What is everyone’s perspective or thoughts on the new workers compensation injury and management act about to launch July 1st from a broker perspective?

Katharine Moore, Social Value lead at Speller Metcalfe recently presented a talk at HMP Highdown looking at ‘Careers in Construction' and how ex-offenders can be supported through routes into construction. We had the fantastic opportunity to discuss the skills that offenders need to support their entry into the industry, as well as the training already offered by our qualified team at Elite Project Services. Speller Metcalfe says "Thank you to Martin Dunne from EPS (Elite Project Services) who facilitated this visit and is passionate about placing offenders into opportunities once they are released. Through the Collaborative Working Groups set up by Procure Partnerships Framework, offenders were able to ask questions and engage with us, and left the session feeling motivated and positive. We’re looking forward to supporting more people learn skills in order for them to enter the industry and succeed."
