"In contrast to wind and solar, the extremely energy-dense and reliable uranium and plutonium fuel provides a reliable source of energy. Texas is a major hub of business and commerce in the United States, and there is a critical need to meet the current and future demands of rapid growth. Gov. Greg Abbott formed the Texas Advanced Nuclear Reactor Working Group within the Public Utility Commission of Texas in September 2023. It has begun REbuilding the United States’ muscle memory in nuclear construction, including REestablishing critical SUPPLY CHAINS. .........Bechtel, .....partnered with North America’s Building Trades Unions to assemble a team that peaked at over 9,000 workers. This WORKFORCE gained specialized skills and hands-on experience TRANSFERABLE to future projects.” [Emphasis Added] My 2-Cents.! Much have been Published/Discussed/Debated/Pros & Cons of the Successfully Operating Vogtle Units 3 & 4. (Cogratulations to a very broad TEAM for their Accomplishment) I view above as a very Important/Timely Benefit not obvious to some in the upcoming NEW Nuclear Industry. To Capitalize on the above seems we need to START Ordering "Fleet" of Large Size Advanced Generation III+ Reactors and upcoming Highly Simplified/Factory Built SMRs.! The Government of Jamaica has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) to explore nuclear energy as a fuel solution for the country.   This MOU is an example of the global momentum toward clean, sustainable energy. Do you know where Miami-Dade’s Electricity comes from? This is Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in Homestead. It generates 66.83% of the total production. Situated 25 miles south of Miami, the Nuclear Generating Station is the largest nuclear power plant in the state and the eleventh largest in the U.S.. Owned and operated by Florida Power and Light, the plant has two operational nuclear reactors. Florida is home to five commercial nuclear reactors located in, Crystal River, Saint Lucie and Homestead. If something happens to go wrong at a nuclear reactor, plans define two “emergency planning zones.” In a 10-mile radius, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the air could be unsafe to breathe in the event of a major catastrophe, evacuation is a MUST. In a 50-miles radius, food and water supplies may be unsafe. One thing to consider, The Nuclear Power Plant has an outstanding record of safe operations since 1970. The U.K. has published their energy roadmap, charting a quadrupling of nuclear energy generating capacity to a total of 24 GW. Planning both expansions and new nuclear sites akin to HPC, the U.K. government is also targeting a large investment in HALEU production capability. This would cement them as the first country in Europe to do so, and positions them well to tap into the global fuel market for advanced reactor designs. Though not directly referenced, I wonder how the renewal of Sheffield Forgemasters will play into this massive expansion. It would be heartening to see a new heavy forge commissioned in this storied nation of early nuclear pioneers. The global momentum behind the nuclear revival is immense.
