How do you do AI right? Dutch posts a great article here that brings me be back to my old school days as a process engineer. It has sage advice for applying AI with in organizations and their processes. However, the article leaves out one key role, and that is supervision. The humans working with the AI still need to supervise the results. This is like the supervisor that would support a customer service floor with 100s of humans at work. Also, much like humans, the training of the model and its data sourcing are critically important and need review, updating and management on a regular basis. I was running some tests with ChatGPT last night and observing its responses. Even after asking the model to use a historical data set and iterate on the analysis I would start to see drift in the responses that were starting to not make sense. Though the iterations, the model had lost track of the original data set I asked it to start with. I had to remind it...did you forget to use the base data set in this analysis. Of course it admitted it had forgotten and started to adjust. (I will post in comments. Companies that are looking to turn these on right away, and just let them run like some magic bullet are going to be taking on risk. To mitigate that risk it will require both good model training from the start, and then ongoing model management. As the article states the models need to be treated like humans. Their responses need to be supervised and managed and they need to be reminded to review their training materials from time to time. #aigovernance #cyberinsurance #informationsecurity
