JEA in numbers 🔢 We are excited to share some insights into our network, that we gained from our last Audit Campaign. 📊💡 Our Audits are thorough examinations of our member organisation's processes, systems, and performance. 📈🔎 We were excited to know that our work towards connecting our member organisations with each other and supporting the exchange of best practices, has paid off. 🌐 50% of organisations have been collaborating with another organisation from our network on at least one joint project. 🤝 In addition, it was great to learn that 70% of Junior Enterprises received more than 50 member applications in 2023. 📝 This is great news, as we strive to broaden the reach of Junior Entrepreneurship in Austria. 🚀💫 And, last but not least, we are proud to announce that 80% of our member organisations offer their Junior Entrepreneurs more than 2 trainings per year, thereby ensuring robust transfer of skills and capabilities to the next generation of Junior Entrepreneurs, innovators and thought leaders 📈🏆 #weareone #juniorenterprisesaustria #audit #network #connecting #collaboration #innovation

Did you know? 💡 In the Junior Enterprises Movement (JE Movement) there are various ways for Junior Entrepreneurs to add value—not only to their home Junior Enterprises, but to the entire network! 💼✨ By strengthening connections both nationally and internationally, we can build a stronger, united community.🌐💪 We, Junior Enterprises Austria (JEA) are the link between Junior Enterprises on a national level and the European and Global networks of European Confederation of Junior Enterprises (JE Europe) and Junior Enterprises Global, respectively. 🧩🌟 👀 Junior Entrepreneurs can hold one of two different positions if they are interested in having a voice in the JE Network: 🌎 International Manager (IM): Held by a member of the national confederation’s Executive Board (in our case, JEA’s Executive Board), the IM serves as the crucial link between national networks and the European or Global movement. They represent the voice of Austrian Junior Entrepreneurs internationally, bridging the local and global scenes. 🌐👏 🤝 Ambassador: Every Junior Enterprise appoints an Ambassador to represent its opinions and ideas. Ambassadors play a vital role in ensuring communication flows smoothly within the Austrian network itself, advocating for their home Junior Enterprise and its initiatives. 🗨️💫 Both of these roles are key to ensuring connection and collaboration within the #JuniorEnterprises network! 🇦🇹🌍 #weareone #juniorenterprisesaustria #juniorenterprises #jemovement #representative #ambassador #didyouknow #career

How would I event start? What challenges am I going to face? How do I succeed? All these may seem like very basic and general questions, yet as someone who aspires to be a young entrepreneur I ask myself them every day. During the JEA conference recently held, a panel about the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs took place, where all of these questions were answered. Here are some of the key takeaways: Successful Teams: 🔹 Combine gut feeling and experience. 🔹 Passion and drive in solving problems. 🔹 Be adaptable and ready to pivot. Unpredictability: 🔹 Prepare for highs and lows. 🔹 Resilience is key; success is inconsistent. 🔹 Adapt to market changes. Support: 🔹 Choose support based on your needs. 🔹 Seek mentorship and networking. 🔹 Make informed decisions and ask for help. 🔹 Young, driven individuals are vital for innovation Forward-looking Trends: 🔹 Solve relevant problems. 🔹 Overcome fears and take the first step. 🔹 Prioritize and stay resilient. 🔹 Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends. The entrepreneurial journey is most definitely not an easy one. A great piece of advice from one of the speakers to help with this is “Identify a problem you can solve going forward and is relevant for a large group of people. “, which I believe to be a very crucial first step. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to attend such an informative and insightful event. A special thank you to Junior Enterprises Austria and mosaik

PITCH EMPTY African pitch events do not (as intended) unlock investments. Hence there is a long overdue need to rethink what and how pitch events can deliver actual value to entrepreneurs - and what activities can actually unlock investments. In the quest to fuel entrepreneurship across Africa, pitch events have long been viewed as the key to unlocking crucial investments. However, my recent micro survey paints a different picture, revealing a stark disconnect between expectations and outcomes. An overwhelming 81% of respondents express that pitch events, in their current form, offer limited to low value, primarily serving as networking or marketing activities rather than the investment catalysts they are intended to be. This feedback begs a critical reassessment of the ecosystem's approach. It's time to question not only the efficacy of pitch events in the African context, where challenges such as trust and access to capital prevail, but also to explore how we might re-imagine these gatherings to truly serve our entrepreneurs and investors alike. The path forward calls for a collaborative re-engineering of pitch events, focusing on creating curated, thematic forums that attract quality deal flow and genuine investment interest. By aligning these events more closely with the needs of both entrepreneurs and investors and by fostering a biannual or quarterly rhythm, we can enhance their relevance and impact. This requires a shift from isolated, project-based events to a coordinated series of investment opportunities, thoughtfully designed with the investor's perspective and the entrepreneur's needs in mind. Moreover, this evolution demands a strategic partnership among all stakeholders, including donors, funders, local investment networks, and entrepreneurs themselves. It's about moving beyond the superficiality of glossy presentations to foster genuine connections, facilitate meaningful conversations, and, ultimately, catalyse sustainable investments. As we stand at this crossroads, the question remains: Are we ready to join hands and redefine the narrative around pitch events in Africa? The goal is clear- to create a more inclusive, effective, and strategic platform for showcasing and scaling the innovative ventures that will drive our continent's future. Are you willing and ready to be part of this process? #InvestmentEcosystem #EntrepreneurshipAfrica #StrategicInnovation #CollaborativeGrowth #SustainableInvestment #AfricanEntrepreneurs #RedefiningPitchEvents #InclusiveEconomy #FutureOfInvestmentInAfrica GrowthAfrica Sidi Saccoh McKevin Ayaba Abderrahmane Chaoui Meryem Mahfoud Jacklyne Iminza-Anyamba Nick Vilelle
