I'm excited to announce Macro has raised a $12M Series A led again by a16z, bringing our total funding to $21.3M. All previous investors Craft, BoxGroup and 3kVC participated in this inside round. Everyone now agrees AI is going to change Office Work. It follows that big changes must be in store for the Office Suite... right? The Office Suite is the main software package powering office workers (pdfs, documents, email, chat, presentations, etc.). But existing Office Suites aren't evolving fast enough. They're just retrofitting AI into existing apps as a side panel. It's the Innovator's Dilemma. Our take: the Office Suite needs to be rewritten from scratch for the AI era. 𝘼 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 1. The Office Suite should be one super app, not 11 siloed apps and chatbots. 2. You should be able to work with every file format in one place. 3. AI should be able to *take action* across apps, not just answer questions. 4. As the centerpiece of business software, the Office Suite should be open source so other categories (e.g. CRM) can be built on top. Coming soon: - PDFs ✅ - Documents ✅ - Emails 🔜 (Microsoft/Google integration) - Chats ✅ - Images 🔜 - Code 🔜 - Diagrams - Sheets - Notes 🔜 - ... I'm thankful to our team, users, clients and investors! It's a big build. We have a lot of work left to do, but as of today the product is pretty good and quite useful for a specific persona, namely, finance and legal users reading long documents.
