Many of us have had suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives. Feeling suicidal is not a character defect. With time and support, you can overcome the pain and suicidal feelings can pass. Some of the finest, most admired, needed, and talented people have been there. Many of us have thought about taking our own lives when we’ve felt overwhelmed and devoid of all hope. But the pain can be treated and hope can be renewed. Reach out to a mental health therapist. There is no shame. Being in therapy doesn’t mean that you are crazy, or weak, or flawed. It only means that you are ready to take help to work with the pain. Therapy helps. #WSPD2024 #mentalhealth #suicideawareness #suicideprevention

People who take this extreme step want help…many times an actual act of help…a financial situation, an emotional abuse no one can see, an inability to move out of a toxic relationship dynamic….they need a solution that someone can help them see….they don’t always need a therapist…a pro-bono lawyer, a financial expert ,a genuine helpful social worker.. … …any one who can help them handle their situation can actually remove lot of suicides.

It's reassuring to know that feeling suicidal is not a character defect and that with time and support, the pain and suicidal feelings can pass. It's important to remember that even the finest, most talented people have been there. Your suggestion to reach out to a mental health therapist is helpful and I appreciate you emphasizing that there is no shame in seeking help. It takes strength to acknowledge the pain and take steps towards healing.

Recently came across a very young 12 year old child who said "Ma'am I don't want to live." It was heart breaking. Have known him since he was in Grade II. Hopefully the counselling sessions will help. But it starts so young now...

Suicide obviously needs urgent attention in society. But the concept of buddies, friends etc needs to be created faster. With joint families disappearing , loneliness increasing, people don’t have avenues of letting out. Great post.
