Touching the Tip of Robotics' Iceberg Part #1 Gears and Torque ⚙ In this video I'm performing the Motion Analysis of two gears with a rotary motor installed on the smaller gear having 18 teeth which is driving the bigger gear having 48 teeth. After 5s Motion Analysis, a plot between time and torque is generated showing a number of torque spikes and flat lines. Was it supposed to happen ⁉ Since I am not adding any payload to the gears and there is no gravity applied too, so high torque is observed only when the backlash occurs meaning the empty space between gear teeth is eliminated and smaller gear experiences high torque for a short time applied by motor. After that, since no friction occurs, the gears move freely. Big brain moment 🧠, right ❓

Recently, I’ve been diving deeper into robot manipulation and exploring tools like MoveIt2 within ROS2. With tools like MoveIt2 in ROS2, I’ve explored: 1️⃣ Sensing & Control: Obstacle detection and precision movements. 2️⃣ Motion Planning: Trajectory planning and obstacle avoidance. 3️⃣ Task Decomposition: Breaking tasks into reaching and grasping motions. What makes it unique? 1️⃣ Higher dimensionality due to multiple joints. 2️⃣ Navigating 3D space with intricate trajectories. 3️⃣ More constraints from joint limits and workspace boundaries.

Gentle Duo for this application for a few solid reasons ✅ Soft fingers provide the care apples need ✅ Electrical actuation saves battery life and super easy to integrate ✅ It is very forgiving for positional errors ✅ Soft fingers keep working after -otherwise damagin- collision. We do not have it here but we saw a video where the finger was bend all the way back because a miscalculation by the camera. When pulled out it went back to its position and kept working. 😄

Here's a snapshot from my initial attempt at building an ESP32-CAM surveillance robot car. Despite investing hours into designing and coding, this version didn't quite meet the mark. But setbacks are just stepping stones to success. Today, I’m proud to share that I'm revisiting this project with renewed energy and insights, determined to complete it and push it to new heights. Why does this guy love simulations so much? Well, here is an example from Drass Robotics of an ABB weldiing cell similar to the one I displayed earlier. This is not just an example of a robot programmer imitating the movements looking at sim, but rather the proper use of Frames, WorkObjects and tool calibration to produce an offline simulation that can easily be translated to real life.

Very smart and interesting game that shows the types of steering and differential and how they affect the turning radius.
