The QUICKEST way to shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic state is by practicing a 'physiological sigh'. How do we do it - take a deep breath in (try a lateral expansion), followed by one more quick inhale (to squeeze in as much as you can), followed by a long steady exhalation through the mouth - like a long exasperated sigh.
