Volkswagen has lost their way. First of all, they had that massive emission scandal that destroyed consumer trust and brand credibility. Even putting that aside though, Volkswagen has had a very difficult time transitioning to electric vehicles. Their former CEO, Herbert Diess was a massive fan of Tesla and tried to push Volkswagen to embark on an all-out push to switch to electric. The narrative from Nissan and VW is potentially catastrophic. Governments around the world continue to prove how totally incompetent and unfit for purpose they are. I can't think of another sector that has done more to evolve their businesses to fit with the transition to electric and a greener future and Governments have absolutely shafted them with continuous changes in policy. 2025 will be a precarious world.
