When did the Mobile-First strategy become a thing? It became popular with the first iPhone in 2007 and got more attention with Ethan Marcotte's ideas about responsive web design in 2010. This strategy focuses on ensuring websites and apps work well on mobile phones first, because screens can be different sizes and people use their phones differently than computers. This means when you start creating a website or app, you first make sure it's easy to use on a phone. Think about making things look good and work fast on small screens.  Using Mobile-First strategies is about planning for mobile use from the very start. Brilliant work realwear 👏 I talked about streaming an additional phone view into the Navigator headsets just yesterday in fact! Currently, I use @oculavis SHARE to patch in additional views and devices to do exactly this. Why? If you want to see inside a machine but you need the side panels in place for safety; or you want to check that no one is crossing the safety corden behind you or down the street; or you want to see into that dark space around the corner at the back of the machine. If you are developing an app with Jetpack Compose, be aware of this strange dark mode issue on Xiaomi phones. Many apps, including the official Compose official samples do not solve this problem in any way. I presume developers are just not aware about it. So the matter is when you switch to the light mode within the app while keeping the system in the dark mode, the text color doesn’t change and it becomes unreadable. The issue is magically solved by going to Settings -> Display -> More Dark Mode Options, finding the app, and toggling the switch there. But your users probably won’t do that. Luckily there is a workaround: add `<item name="android:forceDarkAllowed" tools:targetApi="q">false</item>` to your Activitie’s theme in Themes.xml and improve user experience on 400 million Xiaomi devices. Force dark allowed is an old way to lazily provide the dark theme to your app when writing UI in XML. This issue likely has to do with how Xiaomi system (BTW, only Android version 10 and higher) and compose work internally. In a compose-only app, it shouldn't break anything, not sure about hybrid projects. #Android #JetpackCompose
