Let’s stop calling our experiences failures, and instead start recognizing our wins, no matter how small or elusive they may be.

The hardest goal to achieve: continued respect and integrity over a whole career. Most people enter any big endeavor—a business, a craft, an education—with the goal of accomplishing a big, single act or a series of them. The feature film. The IPO. Whatever. Eric and I have tons of these goals across our client projects, our IP, etc. We’re going to fight to make each of these things award-winning, lucrative, or successful. However, in every big project there are a million micro-decisions where it's just plain easier to be inconsiderate, authoritative, careless, etc. And we HAVE done these things at times. But, we also do normal human things like apologize, rectify, reciprocate. And doing that sometimes feels distracting from the goals which, as ambitious people, is very hard. That’s the point though: proving that we can do hard things. It’s hard to build healthy systems. IMO the magnum opus is the pursuit of your big, singular goals while still doing your best for your community, colleagues, and society.

Behind every successful professional, There is always someone at one point who has: - Had no idea what they were doing. - Been told "No" many more times than "Yes" - Faced rejections after rejections until they got one acceptance. - Seen their dreams and everything they worked hard on go up in flames. - Had ideas crash and burn in front of them. - Failed multiple times. - Been made to question their decisions. - Never made the cut in the job or partnership they relentlessly sought after. - Battled with insecurity and self-doubt. - Had to start all over again when a venture didn't go as planned. - Or pivot in a different direction altogether. Whether you are new to the game or have been in it for a while....... Every win, no matter the size, counts. You're doing better than you realize. I promise. Cut yourself a break. But keep pushing.
