It is NOT the algorithm. It is you. Okay I am not gonna sugarcoat things, but let's be real for a minute. There is a lot of chatter that the engagement graph is falling day by day. But let's not straight away point fingers at the algorithm. The responsibility is yours to shape your content strategy. If it's not deliberate, considerate, and aligned with what your audience craves, it might be time for a change. Social media can be chaotic. If you are starting to create social-first content, you know some work whilst most of them fall flat. Here are some of my learnings from all my years trying to understand the social media game ↳ If one content works on a platform, it doesn't mean it will on another. You need to modify the content for each platform. The crux of it can stay, but how you present it needs tweaking. ↳ Nobody listens if you just talk about yourself (especially if you are a brand). Ditch the "my product does this or that" and show how you solve their problem. ↳ Consistency. ↳ Engage with your audience. Cannot emphasise this enough but customer service extends to social media. If your users has something to say, you listen irrespective of the platform. ↳ Data and metrics. Keep testing and improving.
