Florida's state primary is heating up, with candidates pouring dollars into advertising, but Black-owned media is still being overlooked in political spending. Advertising in Black-led media outlets allows candidates to politically engage black constituents who may not come across their advertising and who are often disenfranchised during election cycles. Black media plays a critical role as the liaison between candidates and the community. Yet, local and national candidates continue to neglect black media as a viable campaign tool. It is for these reasons that Hy-Lo News has put together a comprehensive list reporting how much Broward County candidates spent on local black-owned media and advertising agencies. As we reflect on the DNC's decisions this election cycle, one glaring issue stands out: the failure to adequately invest in Black-owned media. This oversight didn’t just miss a key opportunity — it undermined the voices and platforms that consistently engage and empower Black voters, who remain the backbone of Democratic victories. (BOMESI (Black Owned Media Equity & Sustainability Institute) argues that Democratic operatives’ failure to invest in Black-owned media wasn’t just a strategic misstep; it was a failure to honor the trust and loyalty of Black communities. These platforms are more than media — they are lifelines of information and accountability. Read to learn why investment in Black-owned media isn’t optional; it’s essential for democracy. https://lnkd.in/eEX3cPZV #BOMESI #URLnetwork #Blackownedmedia #DNC #election2024

Black voters are not a monolith! Our National Black Voters Research reveals how diverse Black communities are divided into voting clusters, each with unique priorities. As part of our 'Black Faith Votes' Soul Food Dinner campaign, we're using this research to connect with and engage rightfully cynical voters. Hear from POWER’s interim executive director, Rev. Dr. Gregory Edwards, about how we're driving political engagement through these community-centered conversations. Putting on my journalist hat here, I just watched a story on CNN and overall Harris is underperforming with the black vote compared to Biden’s 85% and in both categories, men and women she is down compared to Biden. CNN buried the lead. This is the result of swapping out Biden for Harris at the last minute which I knew was going to have an unforeseen consequence. Where is that poll? In business, you can do whatever you want but the market will decide if they are going to buy it. Well… it looks like you are getting your answer. This is where the media is all about selling advertising and not the truth. That is a double digit drop in the black vote overall. So to put that on young black men is absolute BS. What is damning is that the Party is panicking and looking for a scape goat in the event the gamble does not work. Playing black men for the fool is how we got here. Black men are not voting for Trump. So stop talking about Trump, and start addressing their individual needs. The problem is that they are not voting for Harris. Fix the problem. https://lnkd.in/ehPda6XH

I watched something astounding unfold last night, and I don’t think mainstream media is giving it the attention it deserves. Whether you hate Trump or love him, he is unquestionably making the Republican Party more diverse than it’s been in more than a century. According to exit polls: He received 60% of the Latino vote in MI He received 20% of the Black vote in WI He won 25% of the Black male vote in GA He won Baldwin county, GA (41% black), the first Republican to win this county since 2004 He won Anson county, NC (40% Black), making him only the second Republican to win this county since Reconstruction Nationwide, Trump won 45% of Latino voters Most significantly, while Trump’s support among white voters dropped from 57% in 2020 to 49% in 2024, his support among Black and Latino voters has increased by 4% We may be witnessing an historic demographic shift in the parties, unified less based on identity group and more based on class. To be clear, I’m not saying that either party will actually serve the needs of these shifting groups; I, myself, am an independent and have no confidence in either party. But I think it’s significant — and inspiring — that disparate groups of people are coming together based on their common needs, values, and goals. Yet in the midst of this, mainstream media continues to call Trump supporters racist, fascist, and extremist. Even worse, his POC supporters are derided as ignorant. It’s time to turn the page on these shamelessly divisive tactics. In America, we should be free to vote for whoever we want, for whatever reason we want, without fear of condemnation. When a plurality of POC support a candidate, it may be time to stop calling him racist and ask why people support him. Or maybe that’s a question some people simply don’t want answered.

EVERYONE: Suggest Pres. Trump, has his ad agency create POSITIVE ADS featuring Pres. T, and Vance Each meeting women, single moms, small business owners, retailers destroyed by VP Harris and other Democrat approved theft. THEY NEED TO MAKE A MORE PERSONAL CONNECTION TO VOTERS. Ads will help accomplish this. Pres. Trump and JD need MORE than mega political events to win back working women voters and independents. Thx.

Juneteenth has been recognized as a US federal holiday since 2021 and acts as a day to celebrate the end of slavery in the country but millions of Americans will not have the day off today to mark the occasion: lnkd.in/esaQhN7t A French court has ordered Google, Cloudflare, and Cisco to poison their DNS resolvers to prevent circumvention of blocking measures, targeting around 117 pirate sports streaming domains: youtu.be/fJ8weIXamzo The move is another anti-piracy escalation for Orlando Bravo and ConnectWise Tampa, which also has permission to completely deindex the sites from search engine results: youtu.be/FPOqY83-Y8k At least 30 states, including most recently Rhode Island and Kentucky, and the District of Columbia recognize Juneteenth as an official public holiday, according to the Pew Research Center. Yet as the number of states to legally declare Juneteenth a holiday rises, other states continue to cling to holidays that honor the Confederacy: youtu.be/KJSpumISWQk © 2024 Pressure Entertainment Group Inc

Donald Trump's landslide victory makes it clear that the vast majority of American voters feel overlooked by brands and bureaucrats. After years of America suffering through painfully "woke" advertising that alienated the trads and the Chad's, it’s clear that now is the time for Madison Avenue to reconnect with traditional American values. Why I believe Vice-President Kamala Harris loss the election for President!!! Hi Alvin Tillery and WCIU-TV I am a member of the Democratic Party. I was proud to vote for Vice-President Kamala Harris. Considering Vice-President Kamala Harris ONLY had a short amount of time to launch her campaign, she did an excellent job. The problem was that President Joe Biden and the National Democratic Party got [ high jacked ] by the [ crazy left wing nuts ] that pushed [ junk woke ] policies like: 1 - boys that identify as girls playing in girl sports. 2 - men that identify as women using women’s bathrooms. 3 - hard working American taxpayers saw their tax dollars being wasted by the billions on migrants. My hope is the National Democratic Party will [ learn from its electoral defeat ] and NOW begin to focus on issues that are important to ALL voters, like (in no particular order): 1 - employment. 2 - housing. 3 - healthcare. 4 - education. 5 - community safety. 6 - inflation. 7 - etc, etc, etc. The National Democratic Party must focus on bread and butter issues if it wants to win future presidential elections. If the National Democratic Party fails to learn from its electoral rejection, another Republican Party candidate will be elected president of the United States of America in four years. All the best, Thomas Lopez-Pierre
Thanks to @BrandonPope and WCIU-TV for featuring me in their recent story on whether VP Harris's campaign lost because they were "too woke." As I said in the segment, the notion that Harris ran a "woke campaign" is nonsense. Moreover, a large part of the reason why Black voters under 40 drifted away from her is that the Democratic Party ran a centrist campaign that focused so narrowly on winning over "Liz Cheney voters" that they alienated the segments of their base that were looking for more differentiation from the Republicans. The path forward for the Democrats is standing on progressive values and educating their emerging electorate about how those values will make their lives better than what the Republicans are offering. Finally, I close the segment by arguing that Governor JB Pritzker's approach to leading Illinois is a great example for the national Democrats to follow as they seek to rebuild for the coming electoral cycles.
