Strongly disagree. The problem is just in the perception of what this product is. FAST is just a TV channel that uses (I) a different way of making content, (ii) a different way of distributing it, and (iii) a different (more direct) way of monetizing it. Once the industry realizes, that naming this product FAST and sticking it into the "digital" content group were mistakes and starts treating it for what it is - a freaking linear TV channel - it will gain a wider audience. And we need to drop the fat of about 1500 channels which are crappy movies/shows/youtube videos that no one cares to watch.
Very difficult to make FAST work without bundling or proper monetization! When video fill is averaging sub 20% for ad pod inventory, that will not keep the lights on long. We will continue to see more consolidation until other revenue opportunities come to life for content owners, aggregators and distributors.

Some are fleeing FAST because they have been crowded out by the same channels that have clogged digital cable. A dozen or more channels are imposed on platforms while new voices and independent producers get kicked out. Programmatic IS flawed but so too is the lack of measurement standards and the fact that independent content is getting the shaft (again) in the streaming space.
It's interesting to see the shift from the #FAST model to #COMO in the realm of content monetization and streaming media. This change certainly reflects the evolving landscape of premium broadcasters and content studios.
