September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month! 📣Why does it matter? Childhood Obesity Leads to Chronic Illnesses. 📣How? Excess weight can lead to insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and inflammation in the body—factors that contribute to diabetes and heart disease even at a young age. 📣The good news is childhood obesity is preventable through a multidisciplinary approach, starting with a supportive home and building within the community without bias or stigma. It's #WellnessWednesday, so I share more in the brief video. Let's get #healthiertogether Interested in helpful resources? This National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, we're reflecting on the staggering toll excess weight can take on children's overall wellbeing. Obesity puts children at risk for health complications once seen only in adults, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. The good news is that childhood obesity is treatable and preventable. #nexus #ncoam #childhoodobesity #kidshealthmatters
