Self diagnosis is really hard and ignoring an issue probably won't fix it. This is our family car. 120k miles on the clock and last week, spontaneously wouldn't start leaving us stranded 50 miles from home. Recovered it to our mechanic and in the time that took, the fault seemed to have fixed itself so I took it back. Yesterday, the same thing - started fine, took us to our destination, then wouldn't start to take us home... I'd foolishly allowed myself to believe that a bit of rest had sorted it (reduced the symptom) rather than asking a professional to properly diagnose and fix the route cause. I'd even traveled around Google to self diagnose....which of course just serves you what you look for and relies completely on asking the right questions. I was trying to find the cheap and easy route that required little or no investment. The parallels to my behaviour in the run up to my illness are stark. Look how quickly I took the easy option and hoped the problem just went away! I've now taken the tougher but safer option and invested in professional help. The recently finished summer holiday season may have masked a few things so listen to your gut - take the tougher choice and enlist some professional help. Shout out to Opinium who have asked me to deliver a workshop on Tough Conversations in October.... #professionalhelp #betteroutthanin #yourenotalone
Regular maintenance, even when things look fine, also helps cars, humans and relationships.
Seems like the car may be helping you with the prep..!
I am sitting in an urgent care because after 9 weeks of an annoying pain in my side I was bullied into coming in. You see the pain isn’t enough to force me to self pay for a diagnosis. There are moments in the day it doesn’t hurt at all so it must be getting better right? 🤷🏼♀️ But for at least 8 hours everyday for 9 weeks the same random pain in my right side. Today is the day. I have been sitting here for an hour waiting Working from my phone and getting annoyed at the time and money lost. But better safe than sorry I guess. This post resonates with me today.
You won’t be suprised to hear me echo this! 👍🏻

1ySorry you've been enduring pain and had to be bullied into seeking help, but well done for caving... It can be scary to ask for help and takes courage. Be brave and see it through.... Good luck.
