💡 Did you ever wonder what real and digital twins have in common? This question came to my mind when talking to a real twin colleague some weeks ago. It inspired me to invite Virginie Maillard, Head of Technology Field Simulation and Digital Twin at Siemens, and Moritz Cortemme, Head of Innovation Hub at Siemens Financial Services to our “SFS in Perspective” webcast – a format in which I regularly discuss industry and leadership topics with leaders from inside and outside of our company. In this special edition on #digitaltwins we jointly explored how Siemens is enabling the #industrialmetaverse by combining the real and the digital worlds and elaborated the potential of digital twins for the financial sector. What I found very interesting is that almost 30 percent of global manufacturing companies have either fully or partially implemented their digital twin strategies, according to the recent Digital Twin Market Report (https://bit.ly/3JeFZBS). 🗝 So, what are my key take-aways from this conversation? 🗝 1️⃣ Already today, digital twin technology is revolutionizing the way how companies plan, design, manufacture, and manage everything from new products to whole factories. 2️⃣ The digital twin technology might not only be a game changer in the industrial space, but also in the #financialservices sector, e.g. when it comes to tailor-made financing solutions or improving risk management activities. 3️⃣ Finally, I’d like to underline what Virginie said: “You cannot innovate alone. We need to work in an ecosystem to make it happen.” And coming back to my initial thoughts, wondering about the interplay of real and digital twins, I would summarize it as follows: In the end, it’s the human being which is the source of inspiration and the key element of each innovation. A big and heartfelt thank you ❤️ to you, Virginie Maillard and Moritz Cortemme, for this inspiring session and also to Simon Prommersberger, Lukas Prommersberger, Bastian Drowin and Michael Drowin for sharing your experiences as real identical twins 🙍♂️🙍♂️ with us and for kickstarting our live discussion.
