Ainslie to Everest In Canberra, one person is lost to suicide every week, and for every death by suicide, as many as 21 people attempt to end their lives. Lifeline Canberra has answered 31,172 calls to support people in crisis (2022-23) and tomorrow my husband Mikey is taking on Ainslie to Everest to raise funds to support Lifeline. His team will be climbing the elevation of Mt. Everest on the Mt. Ainslie trail in BA gear. This equates to 32 km climbed by each team member and 8 laps up and down! It costs Lifeline $26 to answer a call that could save a life, and if you are in the position, I know they would love your support! As firefighters, this is something very close to their hearts! For Canberra locals, the top of Mt. Ainslie will be packed with family fun, including fire trucks, radio broadcasts, sausage sizzle, and the ESA mascots and band. Swing past to support the teams or jump in for a lap with them! I have included a link in the comments if you can contribute.

Here are several people with unmet needs that could use support and have their needs amplified. The links to support each will be in the comments below. 1. Demond needs stable housing. He has been staying in an Airbnb and really needs stability. 2. KaTrina needs support to reach stability, have a clean-air vehicle, and find a new home. Need to raise at least $4,000 to cover the vehicle. 3. Emily needs to cover a lung transplant to breathe again due to Pulmonary Fibrosis. At the moment, there is $325.00 raised of the $10,000 needed. Less than twenty days left to raise this. 4. Nicole is a Native mother raising survival funds. She has a daughter she is looking after as well. 5. Aleska is a disabled woman trying to prevent eviction. $1,240 is needed by the 20th of November for this. Making progress gradually, but needing to get this met ASAP. 6. Monet is facing eviction and needs to raise at least $1786.94 to prevent this. The eviction notice will be effective November 22nd.

Ahead of Matthew's run to every Premier League stadium we wanted to highlight why he, you, and local businesses, are coming together for Mission 135. Mission 135's goal is to raise £405,000 across Club 135, Network 135, and Team 135. Of course, the money is incredibly important in maintaining our suicide prevention and bereavement support services, but it's more than just a fundraising campaign. It's about people. It's about the 135. On average, every death by suicide affects 135 people. That equates to more than 760,000 people last year in the UK alone. We believe the best way to support the 135 is by preventing the 1 from taking their life. That's our goal. That's our mission. So thank you for every mile, every cake baked, and every profit shared. Together we can, and will, save lives, support communities, and prevent suicide. Join our mission: https://lnkd.in/eTS8UHqr #Mission135 #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness

It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, and did you know the construction industry has one of the highest rates for male suicide? There are amazing charities and organisations out there, providing vital support to individuals and communities and making a difference - such as Mates in Mind and Andy's Man Club. That's why we've made donations to both of these organisations! The reality is, so many of us struggle with mental health issues, especially in industries where pressures can run high. If you're struggling, you're not alone. #ANDYSMANCLUB offers free, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online, providing a safe space for all. For employers, Mates in Mind offer tailored guidance and support across various sectors, including construction and manufacturing, helping to create environments where everyone feels supported. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness 💙 #mentalhealthawareness #itsokaytotalk #mentalhealth

The "Golden Hour"—the critical first moments after a road accident—can determine a victim's survival. In emergencies, precious minutes are often wasted as bystanders take photos instead of acting. HEI is working to change that. We're collaborating with partners to train community members and officers to be effective first responders. Dr. Abigail Mkperedem emphasizes the importance: "Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. We need trained responders in every community, so no one has to die because help wasn't given promptly." Join us in creating a community of lifesavers, not bystanders. 👉 Partner with us: https://bit.ly/4crWBm2 #HEI #EmergencyResponse #SaveLives #NonProfit #Nigeria

Humans have marked Winter solstice (the longest night of the year) for millenia, looking forward with hope to brighter days. For people doing it tough, a period of homelessness really can be "the longest night". On Winter solstice (20 June) Tessa van Duyn and I will spend a night out in the cold to raise funds for people who are homeless or at risk. Vinnies provides food, clothing and support, but (more importantly) Vinnies provides hope during what can be a dark time. Only three sleeps to go - help us make a difference: https://lnkd.in/ggAAcr2i

It is clear that survivors of human trafficking are not one homogenous group. Each individual not only has their own experience of exploitation, they also have a life prior to and apart from their exploitation. The multiple factors that impact their lives are crucial to how they recover from trauma, the understanding and contextualising of it and where it fits into their future is extremely important in their recovery. Beginning this process requires stability, mental, emotional, and physical well-being and a feeling of safety and security. In our work with victims and survivors, we take time to consider all the facets of who they are, acknowledging their unique strengths and needs. Ensuring that everything we do is survivor-led and that our inputs are prioritising the outcomes they have identified is at the heart. To help us get this right, we have developed the 12 Essentials to Thrive that our clients believe are the vital elements in their recovery. Some are more important to each person than others and working together is the route to long-term, sustained recovery and freedom. You can be part of a survivor's journey to thrive by donating £5.60 a month you can ensure that they have the bus fare to meet with us and access our support. You can donate via our website or get in touch to see other ways in which you can support this vital work! #12essentialstothrive

Today we’re launching 𝑊𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑇𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝑏𝑦 𝐶𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑒, our latest 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 campaign partnered with Lifeline. Suicide is an issue that rarely receives the attention and resources needed to prevent tragedy. With more Australians lost each day to suicide than the road toll, nobody’s left unaffected by this silent crisis, including the Cater Care team. Now, we’re inviting team members to raise funds and awareness for Lifeline by walking 65 kilometres throughout May - one for each thousand Australians who attempt suicide each year. Every dollar raised will go towards recruiting Crisis Supporters who will answer calls and texts to make sure nobody is left alone in their darkest moments. If you’d like to join the challenge, you can start by cheering on our walkers, having those important conversations about mental health, and donating to a team of your choice. To learn more about this challenge and how you can show your support, check out the link below! https://lnkd.in/gCux76Nr #csr #lifeline #community #corporatesocialresponsibility #support
