Last week I spoke with a Hiring Manager who has a Senior Product Manager role that has been open for the last 7 months and they said that they don't need help filling this role. 7 months! While everyone is entitled to their opinion, if you've had a vacancy open for that long, you definitely need help. Even if they hired someone in month 8, by the time someone has been onboarded and is settled into the business (3+ months), it will be nearly a year since they decided that they needed someone. Maybe I have a different view than most, but most recruitment campaigns should be concluded within 30 days or so otherwise you are doing something wrong. Not having the right person in the business will kill momentum, affect morale, and stretch your existing team members. This is a much greater cost to the business than paying a specialist recruiter to hire the right person quickly. Professionals who know the importance of getting key Product hires in place, quickly, don't mess around trying to hire by themselves for 3, 6 or 9 months, they go to a specialist like Producto to help them hire the best of the best. If your Product Manager vacancy is still open after a few months, you have a problem. If it's been open for 6 months (I've come across a few of these!), what are you doing about it?
