𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝: 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 How many actuarial exams do I need to be a credentialed actuary with either the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society? Incorporating all requirements, candidates will complete a 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟐 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐬 to be an 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 (ACAS) and 𝟏𝟑 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐬 to be 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (ASA). Interestingly, both CAS and SOA require the same number of 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐬—𝐬𝐢𝐱 (𝟔). Two(2) of these exams intersect, P and FM, providing flexibility for candidates to explore both paths before deciding or falling into one. The only distinction in the number of exams arises in the additional requirements concerning online exams or e-learning modules: CAS necessitates the completion of 𝟑 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐬. SOA requires candidates to undertake 𝟒 𝐞-𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬. Both SOA and CAS mandate 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 and 𝘁𝘄𝗼 (𝟮) 𝗩𝗘𝗘 (Validation by Educational Experience).
