Project Engineer Rotherham MBC(Waterman Aspen) Owner of UK Amateur Ice Hockey Tournaments Assistant Coach SIHA

As Traffic Signals and ITS professionals, we are often accused of not shouting loud enough about the importance of the work we do to the to the people at the top! So here goes!! At Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council over the next 2 years, we will be upgrading around 50 sets of traffic signals. This includes 10 sets of Signals along the A630 key bus corridor as part of our Traffic Signals Obsolescence Grant (TSOG) from the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom! All new and refurbished sites will be brought back onto our Traffic Management System via Wi-Fi, fibre optics or 4G communications. This will make our network easier to manage and detect faults quickly to ensure traffic flows smoothly in the borough! We are also keen to become a Smart Mobility Living Laboratory as we feel Rotherham is the perfect test bed for new technologies (give us a shout for more info 😉)! Non of this would be possible if we didn't have a head of transport that sees the importance of the work the mere traffic signals and ITS professionals do! I therefore urge you all to get in front of yours and shout from the rooftops about all the amazing work we do and the importance of our roles! Without us, your towns and cities will grind to a halt... Just think of the impact that will have on your economy! #trafficsignals #ITS #modility #smartmobility #CCAM #cits

It’s because it works that the general public (and most non-ITS people) don’t realise what a good job it is doing - well done for shouting about it!
