Buckle up DC this is going to get bumpy!
If you have seen the Kirsten Dunst movie "Civil War", this awfully sounds like a president who is going to a) dismantle the FBI b) go for a third term c) be the root cause for said movie...
America is a product of what has been built. Twitter staff was cut by over 50%. Cool. Private company. Bloat. I get it. A few hundred people can find other employment. If DOGEcoin implements similar cuts to the federal government (~4.2 million total) one challenge will be the displacement of 2.1 million employees. It will be interesting to see 1. Whether the private sector will be able to absorb that. 2. The strain on unemployment and social services 3. The “seller’s market” of employers who can pay what they want because they don’t have to compete for talent. 4. Increase in crimes of survival. 5. Not arguing against downsizing government at all. Just contemplating the impacts.
The irony of appointing TWO people to head the Dept Of Gov’t Effeciency! Not off to a great start on the “efficiency” part.
I wonder which company will profit the most from it....mhmmmm
We waste a log of money in the Omnibus bills that congress passes and everyone and their grandmother is being paid except for worthy companies like https://diassusoftware.com
I expect a lot more train derailments and the like as safety regulations are removed. You know in the name of efficiency, can’t stop those profits from rising.
They should start with the GAO and Congress. Congress is charged with setting a budget but hasn't since 2019 (under Trump) and has only passed a budget on time 4 times in 40 years (the last time was 1996 under Clinton). The GAO "often called the "congressional watchdog,” is an independent, non-partisan agency that works for Congress. GAO examines how taxpayer dollars are spent and provides Congress and federal agencies with objective, non-partisan, fact-based information to help the government save money and work more efficiently (per the about page of the GAO website). Does this not suspiciously sound like what DOGE will be tasked to do?
Two heads for a department studying efficiency...

1moGood post Col Regenor. For too long DC has forgotten, or intentionally ignored, that our Founders created a powerful but limited federal government. Slashing the bureaucratic bloat has been needed for decades, especially at the DoD. Let’s hope DODGE will refocus the department on job #1: war fighting.
