🌍 In a world where borders blur, conflicts don’t just shape politics—they transform healthcare. As global tensions rise, so do the challenges and opportunities for innovation in healthcare. 💡 In today’s world of growing geopolitical instability 🌎, conflicts across various regions are reshaping economies 📉, supply chains 🚚, and the global healthcare sector 🏥. Drawing from Tim Marshall’s 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 and James Barr’s 𝗔 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱, it's clear that these tensions extend beyond borders, with significant implications for healthcare. Here are key impacts of global conflicts on healthcare: 𝟭. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 ⚠️ Global conflicts are exposing fragility in healthcare supply chains, from shortages of medical equipment 🩺 to disrupted access to medicines 💊, highlighting the need for more resilient procurement strategies. 𝟮. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 🛠️ Access to healthcare is increasingly politicized in conflict zones 🏴, with control over medical resources becoming a means of influence and power. 𝟯. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 🚀 Crises often fuel innovation. From telemedicine 📱 to mobile clinics 🚑, conflict zones are accelerating advancements that are reshaping the future of healthcare delivery. 𝟰. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 💼 Economic instability in conflict-affected regions presents significant risks to health investment 💵 and development. To meet these challenges, we need to explore innovative financing solutions that balance risk mitigation with the need for continued progress in health. The need for strategic partnerships 🤝, innovative funding strategies 💡, and global cooperation 🌐 has never been more critical. #Geopolitics #Healthcare #Innovation #SupplyChain #GlobalHealth #RiskMitigation #HealthcareFunding

This session took us through the progressive journey of healthcare delivery in #Africa. Double burden of disease in Africa was highlighted, how #NCDS are contributing to many untimely deaths despite the fact that they are preventable. Yet, despite this burden, healthcare funding is not matching the problem, healthcare workers too are not enough to serve the population. The unique nature of this panel was that it offered solutions, practical #HealthTech solutions that have the potential to address the many health challenges our systems and populations across Africa are facing. Ndoli P. from #LifeSten spoke of a solution that helps us prevent #NCDS by adopting lifestyle changes such as staying away from the use of Tobacco. Mkata Nyoni from #Tanzmed spoke of the importance of people centred innovations, because this is the only way to create useful solutions- building them around people. Ruth Ndunge from #iZiola brought out the role of HealthTech solutions in bringing health services providers and accurate health information closer to the population. This discussion very well moderated by Joanne Peter will remain my highlight of the Africa HealthTech Summit - AHTS 2024. It shows the potential of #Homegrown HealthTech solutions to address Africa's Health Challenges.. HealthTech Hub Africa

📢Health technology assessment (HTA) is the systematic evaluation of properties, effects or other impacts of health technology. 📌The main purpose of HTA is to inform policymaking for technology in health care, where policymaking is used in the broad sense to include decisions made at, e.g., the individual or patient level, the level of the health care provider or institution, or at the regional, national and international levels 📞Don’t hesitate to contact us for further information on our HTA services 🇪🇺🇧🇬Center for European Health Policies ✅Expertise ✅Transparency ✅Ethics 📮Contact us now at www.cehp.eu

I learnt a lot from this dialogue moderated by Dr Amit N. Thakker As a policy student, what Dr Angela Nyambura Gichaga , AoEC shared provided understanding and guidance on how to analyze and approach Africa’s financing of healthcare. She pointed out the four F’s, which are key to addressing this issue. These include: • a fragmentation of funding for health services • a narrowed focus of health • a limited fiscal space for the health sector, and • a framing of health in the context of the political economy Along with these points, she shared the opportunities for action in our quest to achieve Universal Health Coverage as a continent. The rest of the discussions in this forum also gave me a lot to think about, as a future policy maker. Looking forward to more of these conversations Africa Health Business
