Let’s say you want to test whether having a good portfolio increases your chances of getting a job. ✓Set the H₀ (Null Hypothesis): A good portfolio has no effect on job chances. ✓Analyze the data: Got a p-value as 0.03. What does this mean? 🤔 ✓Here, p-value = 0.03. ✓Consider you’re using the common significance level (α = 0.05). ✓p-value < 0.05 ✓So, you can reject the null hypothesis. Today, I’m starting with statistics and here’s what I uncovered: What I Learned Today: Mean: The average value in a dataset, is calculated by summing all the numbers and dividing by the count. It’s a basic yet powerful measure of central tendency. Median: The middle value when a dataset is ordered. If there’s an even number of values, the median is the average of the two central numbers. It’s great for understanding the central point of data without the distortion of outliers. Mode: The value that appears most frequently in a dataset. It’s crucial for identifying the most common data points, and offering insights into prevailing trends. Why This Knowledge Is Key in Data Analysis: Mean: Gives a quick snapshot of the overall data trend, but watch out—it can be skewed by extreme values. Median: Offers a more reliable central value in skewed datasets, making it a better measure in the presence of outliers.
