DOGE is probably the strongest market signal of efficiency/performance prioritization that I've seen in my 15+ years in startups to date. There's also a ton of overlap with fed/state wasteful spending and B2B tech companies. From my POV, it's a clear sign of what's to come in 2025… - Orgs will start taking work output seriously - Leadership cracking down on performance - More startups adopting performance tools - Teams rewarding high-output members generously - Execs reducing spend across low ROI departments And a whole lot more. Still early days, but the writing's on the wall.

Ever wondered what sets successful tech startups apart? Our enlightening discussion unravels this enigma. It's not just about setting the right focus, but daring to question if it's working. So what’s the secret recipe🔑 to navigating the choppy waters of startup success? It's a unique blend of agile leadership, smart goals planning and cultural intelligence. In this era of constant change, being Agile helps to act, react, and progress swiftly. We no longer have the luxury to complete everything before showing it to users. It's about being ready to iterate and evolve based on feedback and market response. Agile leadership empowers you to optimize time-to-market and avoid the pitfalls of the traditional waterfall methodology. But is Agile leadership enough? No! Having cultural intelligence is just as crucial, it fosters effective communication among teams and with the users. Without it, change can be challenging and painfully slow. Think of it like this: Agile leadership gets your tech startup moving while Cultural Intelligence steers it in the right direction🛤. I could not agree more: if truly innovative founders want to do truly innovative things, they’re going to be better off: - Self-founded, self-funded, and self-reliant - Profitable out of the gate - Solving problems over selling buzzword tech - Building with a slow burn rather than chasing explosive growth - Innovating strategically alongside existing technical innovation We've been doing all of the above at Hackolade

From Code to company - let’s demystify some lessons. One of the best thing that happened in my life was the transition from engineering to a tech leader in the startup. I had an incredible journey honestly. Suddenly it was not only about the code but rather inspiring the team, building a vision and driving innovation. Let’s discuss some learnings from my journey :) ✅ it’s all about vision: You need to have a vision only then yiu can communicate it effectively. When the vision is clear you can align your teams to shared collective goals. It took a while for me to understand that having a clear vision was more important than just finding customers. ✅ Empowering team is must: You are only as good as your team. You need to build an space or environment where each members feel valued and contribute with their ideas. ✅ Agility is key: As a startup leader, be ready to pivot and adapt as per different circumstances. Be open to change. ✅ Culture is gamechanger: Your target should be building inclusive and positive culture. A strong and positive culture will help you to attract great talents and grow organically and better. ✅ Continous Learning: This is non negotiable. Be it you or your team members you need to stay top of the game and for that you need to learn continuously. Like many other careers, transition from coder to company or a tech leader in startup could be quite challenging but if you look the big picture it can be rewarding as well. Knowing what kind of PMF your solution (or one of your solutions) is in, helps to clarify your GTM focus. Love this. Thanks Wei Xiao for sharing and thanks Sequoia Capital for the insights!
Sequoia presents a framework for understanding product-market fit (PMF) based on three distinct archetypes: "Hair on Fire" (solving an urgent, obvious need in a crowded market), "Hard Fact" (solving a problem customers have accepted as a fact of life), and "Future Vision" (enabling a new reality through visionary innovation). The path a company takes depends on how customers relate to the problem being solved, and each path requires different operating priorities to succeed, with legendary companies often evolving through multiple paths as they introduce new products over time.
