Leader 1: Three mandatory days in the office with a pass to tap for tracking Leader 2: Also three days, but they are set days which keep changing Leader 3: Three days are encouraged, with most attending once Leader 4: Complete autonomy. Attends every day but the rest of the team don’t Leader 5: Two days are encouraged and is adopted A snapshot of five people I trained this week through CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. What’s clear: - The dust hasn’t settled. Companies are still testing and adapting their policies - It creates uncertainty in life and work - planning long term around your work patterns is difficult - Job conditions play a bigger role than they used to. Recruitment and retention relies on getting this right, balanced with what it takes to succeed in your industry It’s fascinating how it’s evolving, but I do feel for those in jobs they love but are mandated to work in a way they hate. Yes, every leader in the workforce has a management approach! What style do you identify with the most? Managers build a capacity to lead when they learn to make distinctions and work on their self-awareness. The employee experience designates the performance outcome. These key distinctions matter. Share your experience with any of these 3 styles. Which work best for you as an employee? #management #manager #leadership #managementtraining
Understanding Management Styles Every leader has a unique approach to management. Let's dive into three common styles: Autocratic, Laissez-Faire, and Democratic. Which one resonates with you? Autocratic Management This style is all about control and direction. The manager makes decisions unilaterally, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and on time. Pros: Quick decision-making, clear expectations. Cons: Can demotivate employees, stifles creativity. Laissez-Faire Management Here, the manager takes a hands-off approach, giving employees freedom to manage their work. Trust and independence are key. Pros: Fosters innovation, encourages responsibility. Cons: Lack of direction, potential for low productivity. Democratic Management This approach involves team input and collaboration in decision-making. It values everyone's opinions and builds a strong team culture. Pros: Higher employee satisfaction, improved morale. Cons: Time-consuming, potential for conflicts. Each style has its strengths and challenges. The best leaders know when to adapt their approach to fit the situation and their team's needs. Only 1 in 4 workers think their workplace is good enough to recommend it to their family and friends. Data shows a lot of this dissatisfaction attend from poor leadership and management. Managers trained properly are more likely to have engaged, satisfied employees, who in truth will be more likely to refer others. #management #leadership #employeeengagement

The external factors for performance… - Expectations - Resources - Measurement - Feedback - Incentives & Consequences Are provided by the organization. And as the organization’s representative, it is the responsibility of the manager to make sure that these factors are in place, aligned, and sufficient so that the employee can deliver the performance that is expected of them. Not all of these factors are under a manager’s control (for example, policies and procedures or incentive programs). But a manager can influence all of these. Sometimes directly and sometimes by escalating shortcomings to upper management so that they can be addressed. Managers can also influence the three internal factors that the employee brings to the situation… - Knowledge, skills, and attitudes - Ability - Motivation All 8 of the factors that enable performance need to be present and aligned to get the best results. #Leadership and #Coaching are enabling factors that can multiply the results. I’ll explore the internal factors in posts this week. #PerformanceImprovement #PerformanceManagement

Training your managers to be...shall we say, Awesome? 😉 ...is an investment in the people who have the biggest impact on your bottom line. You might get by with managers who are not Awesome (yet)...but why? When your managers have the tools and skills to boost - employee morale - productivity - job satisfaction - loyalty, and - performance, ...you're literally saving your company 30%-50% of your employees' annual salaries because you're not having to replace them and train in new people. 🤯 Most leadership training programs are expensive and take a lot of time. Awesome People Leaders is DIFFERENT because we know managers need support throughout their day or week to tackle sticky wickets. They need to be able to learn new skills in between meetings, instead of taking a whole day or week out of the office. Training your managers today can look much different than what you've done in the past. Give it a look. We know you'll be impressed. https://hubs.li/Q02zfkf30 #employeeretention #ceo #hr #managertraining #awesomepeopleleaders #employees #leadership #training #managementdevelopment

2wHi Jack Lowman Great post, I think there are some additional consideration’s: - Is it a Company wide policy or departmental view implemented by different leaders? - Where are your team based? I say this as half of my team are in Germany so managing remote global teams adds another layer of complexity. I aspire to be Leader 5 of the above ☝️ Hope all is well and have a great Christmas 🎄
