⚽️ Is technology destroying football and what happened in Brussels during a game Anderlecht – Genk 😱
On December 23, 2023, during a high-stakes match between two top-tier teams in the Belgian Pro League – Anderlecht and Genk – a controversial incident unfolded that has sparked a debate about the role of technology in football.
In the 20th minute of the game, after a VAR consultation, the referee awarded a penalty to Genk. Although the initial penalty shot was missed, Genk's player seized the rebound and scored, a sequence of events that happens countless times in football. However, the joyous moment was short-lived as the goal was subsequently overturned. Why? Because of a technicality – players from both teams had encroached into the penalty area before the restart of play, a violation of the rules.
What ensued was a legal and sporting saga. Genk, feeling aggrieved by the decision, demanded the cancellation of the match result and a rematch. However, despite extensive legal deliberations, the court ruled against a rematch, leaving both teams and fans grappling with the fallout of the incident.
This incident begs the question: Has technology, meant to enhance fairness and accuracy, inadvertently complicated matters in football? While VAR was introduced to minimize human error, situations like these raise doubts about its effectiveness and impact on the flow and integrity of the game.
Anthony, Ruven, Luc – have you followed this controversy? What are your thoughts? Is technology a boon or bane for football, and how can we strike a better balance between its use and the spirit of the game?
Olaf - have you heard about similar discussion in the Netherlands? Alain what about France?
Let's kick off the discussion! ⚽️ #Football#VAR#FairPlay#AI

Lewis Hamilton is so right in saying that racing talents need protection and guidance concerning the media. This is exactly what we are doing in our Formelaustria Young Driver Programme, where former F1 media spokesperson Alexandra Schieren and ex-Sky F1 presenter Maren Braun run the media training for our scholars.
As a non-Norwegian investor in the Nordics, I’m concerned about the direction of tax policy in Norway, particularly the proposed tax on startups moving their operations abroad. This kind of legislation risks pushing innovation out of the country. We've already seen startups relocating to places like Switzerland to avoid such hurdles, and this could lead to a significant brain drain from Norway's innovation ecosystem.
What’s striking is that this type of legislation isn’t happening in other Nordic countries, where governments continue to support and encourage startups without additional barriers. Norway risks losing out on talent and innovation if it continues down this path, while its Nordic neighbors forge ahead.
We need to ensure that Norway remains a competitive and attractive place for entrepreneurs and investors, not a country that inadvertently pushes its brightest minds away.

🥁 2 days post Businessplan-Wettbewerb Berlin-Brandenburg (BPW) 🥁
Let's get it out of the way: We did not win, sorry, fans! Thanks for all the support though, especially everyone who came to the event just for Henrietta! You guys are just ❤️
Congrats to the winners of both the main prize and the audience prize (I honestly don't think anyone could have competed with that winning pitch, so chapeau!).
The good news for me and Henrietta though: We ranked 6th in total! Out of more than 150 entries 🤯 I tend to sweep accomplishments like this under the rug but I think it is time to take a step back and look at this result as it is. This was my first business plan I ever wrote. It is a strange feeling to publicly say that I am proud of something I achieved but I am. Is this a female thing?
And of course it wouldn't be a proper LinkedIn Post without the key learnings, so I also have one for you:
A business plan is hard work but once I had it, it made so much sense to do it. Sounds like a no brainer but sometimes we need to say the most obvious things or even write them down - like you have to with your business idea in a business plan. Many of the things I wrote down felt like "d'uh" moments because it was all in my head, not really cohesive but it was there. Consequently, it was really important to see them all written down in a structured form. It made me feel much safer with my idea and the execution. Also, I was able to incorporate so many bits and pieces that came to me which led to a well rounded strategy.
So I will definitely continue with the plan for the next phase in may and incorporate the feedback I was given. Can't wait to learn more about how to best work on Henrietta!
