Military veterans: highly trained, unique discipline, wide experiences, strategic mindset. I’ve worked for (and with) so many ex-service people over the years, from David Page to Victor Meyer, I’ve learned so much about business, people - and myself. And bluegrass music! A few years ago we had the pleasure of spending a year with William Leahy whilst he was with us at Deutsche Bank as part of the USDOD Corporate Fellowes programme, another way for those who have served to experience routes into industry beyond military service. My Challenge Coin sits on my desk everyday to remind me of that time! It is encouraging how much support is now being given to former service personnel by different organisations and companies as they move back into civilian life - and to see such skilled and motivated individuals learning about how they can contribute to the #energytransition just thrills my wee green soul 💚! We need military thinking and skills to tackle this multi-faceted paradigm shift in our global #energysystems. And to that end, I am delighted that our team at IONATE is currently taking part in the NATO DIANA programme, exchanging ideas and making new connections. Next time you’re hiring for specialist roles in your organisation, why not reach out to recruiters and networks who specialise in placing military veterans? #grid #energyresilience #energysecurity #gridinnovation #transformingpower #careers #tech #electricalengineering #careertransition
6 members of the military community getting stuck into tech, power generation and power disribution. All learning from industry leaders with the sweetener of a potential career at the end of it. I’m in awe of the experience team Redeployable and Schneider have put together over the past three days. And the preparation and engagement from the community throughout the process. Top class! #veterans #career #tech

At last week's event held by AUSA Arsenal of Democracy Chapter, Gen. R. Brown highlighted Michigan's exceptional collaboration in supporting #veterans, emphasizing the power of community partnerships. This resonated with us. The General encouraged the audience this past week to continue asking what we can do to enhance our support of our #military and veterans. The truth is: Many veterans still struggle to transition into civilian careers. How can we bridge this gap? SkillFusion is turning talk into action. We're partnering with companies like Edtunity Institute and Elevate to provide technical #training and job placement for veterans, by helping them to become EV charging technicians. In this manner, we also help address the nationwide need for enhanced charging station infrastructure and its reliability. By facilitating collaboration between businesses, educational institutions, and veteran organizations, we're creating a robust support network. Our approach doesn't just help veterans - it strengthens our entire community. What role can you play in supporting our veterans and enhancing your workforce? Talk to us! Drop us your thoughts in the comments below. —— P.S. Remember, when it comes to veteran support, we're not just about words - we're about action. Ready to make a difference? Join SkillFusion in empowering veterans and strengthening our community. Let's turn Michigan's exceptional support into nationwide action. —— ♻️ Re-post to inform your network. #20 of 30 #MinistersOfDefense joining us on October 23 for a Military Thriving Change Forum at Georgetown University is Katherine Dames, Managing Director of Education and Workforce Development at BlueForge Alliance. Few people sit in a more important role in our nation’s efforts to build submarines. Joining other champions of post secondary education, upskilling and workforce development like — Melissa A. Bryant from VetsinTech, Gregory Summers, the CEO, of Orion Talent, Ashley Huderson from ASME and Meg O'Grady from National University — Katherine will dive deep into the challenges associated with massive skills gap in military-supporting industries and how to leverage veteran and early talent to solve for it In addition to workforce gaps in the military, the critical infrastructure that supports our defense - both legacy infrastructure like the manufacturing of ships, planes and equipment, as well as modern infrastructure including hardware and software engineering to support cybersecurity and intelligence operations - is also suffering a skills gap. This panel explores how our military veterans can continue leading purposeful lives and serving their country by pursuing these careers after service. Additionally, the panel will explore how young people who cannot serve - over 80% of the population - might consider these careers as an alternative to military service if they want to serve their country. Join us virtually on 10/23 at the livestream link below ⬇️ and help change the narrative. #MinistersOfDefense #MilitaryThriving

It doesn't matter. If you have 20 years in industry, the relationships you may have, the money, the validation of your past accomplishments and tenure. What does matter, you simply need to want it the most, show your ability to persevere, think differently, #believe that it will happen... scratch that, know that it will happen. And once that investment is made in you, the responsibility and investment in another, is now with you. Microsoft is beginning a campaign to show why inclusion is #innovation. We all have #superpowers, let's take a hard look as an entire industry if we are dismissing them before we even realize they are there. Experience and a certification doesn't always foster forward momentum. I'm excited to share a little bit of my journey as the Microsoft Community publishes it, and even more excited to learn the stories of my peers. #westillserve #veteran https://lnkd.in/gW7s52KW Megumi Voight Petrus Johnson #msftadvocate #microsoftfederal #standto #csfi #Military #befearless Microsoft Microsoft Security Microsoft On the Issues #nationalsecurity

Congrats goes out to Alex Moderhack, a former Military Artillery Technician from the US Marine Corp. When he transitioned to civilian life, he faced a daunting challenge: a lack of technical knowledge. But with unwavering determination, he embarked on a journey of self-improvement. Through VetNet's Networking Route/Switch Fundamentals course, Alex gained the foundational skills needed in the tech industry. His journey didn't stop there; he pursued and conquered the AWS Practitioner course via Pluralsight, showcasing his resilience and adaptability. Today, Alex stands as a shining example of what dedication and the right training can achieve. His story is not just about personal triumph; it's a testament to the effectiveness of skills-based technical training platforms like VetNet.org. By investing in individuals like Alex, companies can bridge the skills gap in technology and empower more veterans to succeed in the civilian workforce. Alex, thank you for your service, your perseverance, and for inspiring us all and congrats on your course of completion on the AWS Practitioner. This is only the beginning. #miliatary #appreticeshipprogram #aws
