I just realized what career path I truly have an interest in. As a Mass Communication graduate who majored in broadcast, I always thought I’d be a news anchor. The thrill of reading the news to millions of people fascinated me, and when I did my internship and saw what being on TV was like, I was even more excited about the whole thing. Except there was a catch! I started creating content during my internship and fell deeply in love with it—in fact, more in love than with being a news anchor and that caused a serious clash of interest. Yes, I know both careers are in the same space, but creating my own unfiltered (sometimes unscripted) content captured my heart. This newfound passion also led me into the world of graphic design and video editing. Although I initially didn't get to utilize my graphic design skills, everything changed when I started as a marketing intern. There, I got the opportunity to blend my content creation passion with graphic design and video editing, as well as learn a whole lot about the social media space opening up a whole new world of creative possibilities. Reflecting on my journey, I now see a clear path where my skills and passions align perfectly. I'm excited to continue exploring the dynamic field of Social Media Marketing combining creativity and communication to make an impact. #CareerJourney #ContentCreation #Broadcasting #GraphicDesign #VideoEditing #Marketing #MassCommunication #PassionToProfession

During one internship experience, I was responsible for copywriting and another intern was responsible for video production. But something unexpected happened. The intern was suddenly unable to complete the remaining video editing work due to health problems, and the release date had been set and time was running out. My supervisor gave me the editing job because I had learned video editing software in my course. But in fact, I am not very proficient in this software because I have not used it for a long time. But I didn't panic. When I encountered a problem, my first reaction was how to solve it. Due to time constraints, I practiced the editing software myself after get off work to ensure that every function was used proficiently. Finally, I completed the remaining video editing work in time. The videos I produced gained audience recognition and ideal views after publishing. This experience demonstrated my problem-solving ability and team spirit when facing unexpected problems. #problemsolving #skills #timemanagement #internship #experience

Hi everyone! I wish to share a little update regarding my ongoing Master’s degree in Communication & Media: I received ‘A’ grade for my App Idea called ‘PR Pro’ for my module ‘Topics in Digital Media & Communications’ final assessment! While getting a chance to work alongside some talented PR specialists during my internships, I noticed that it takes a lot of labour and time to do various tasks for clients. Be it pitching or updating a media target list or mapping global events, etc. So, for one of my assignments which required me to solve a communication problem through media, I came up with the App Idea ‘PR Pro’, an integrated digital application solely for PR/Comms professionals to navigate daily PR needs like networking and liaisoning with various people like journalists, designers or photographers to pitch a press release or need their services for a client’s event. I have included various services to help people amplify their career needs like online courses or media tracking of various trends or latest news within many industries like tech, social welfare, etc. Let me know what you think of this app idea! #publicrelations #mediamonitoring #media #communications

I lied on my first internship In 2020, I got my first social media internship to save up for my first phone. Before COVID, having a smartphone was a luxury for us, and my family couldn't afford it. During those two months, I learned graphic design, video editing, content strategy, and writing, even though I exaggerated on my resume. After six months, they offered me a full-time job, but I wanted to freelance. The real question is: how did I learn all those skills in just two months? It's the "do first, learn later" method. Instead of long tutorials, I tackled tasks step by step, figuring things out as I went. It's all about making things simpler and focusing on real practice.

Never think you can't pivot in life. Let me clarify. I studied Public Relations Management and loved the theoretical aspect of it. When I started my internship with a PR firm, I rapidly understood that PR was not for me. As part of my Research Methodology subject, I wrote a research paper on "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒇𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒆-𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝑹 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔/𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒘𝒏," emailed so many consultancies who were willing to complete my questionnaire (please find time to assist students with this), and a Marketing Boutique offered me an internship position, which I accepted. I became completely obsessed with marketing and social media after learning so much about it. Despite having a degree in public relations, I spent my career in marketing, communications, and social media. I even taught myself how to edit videos and launched a YouTube channel, worked on the backend of my personal website using Wordpress, and learned photography and videography. Now, ten years later, I'm looking for a new opportunity that will challenge me creatively; perhaps it's time to pivot again. I understand it is risky, but if you don't take a chance on yourself, you'll never know what's out there. #newopportunities #pivotinlife #career #marketing #socialmedia

A second-year 19 year old student, eager to enlighten herself with the bright rays of the outside world, it was today's date back in 2023 when I joined White Rivers Media- my first ever workplace experience! It wasn't like I hadn't work before, but it was all beneath the chambers of COVID-19 and it's online alternatives. In real, it's different. Much different. Never had the moment to write about it then, so I'll make the most out of it, now. An agency culture was much distinct than the conventional work life my parents have been describing and that is exactly when I realised our worlds are different and that I have so much more to look forward to, so much more to achieve. It shouted YOUTH! OPPORTUNITY! and THE FUTURE! I joined as a Copywriter Intern and it completely altered my beginner definitions of copywriting. Throughout the course of time, my comprehension about agency structure and client behaviour was significantly enriched. I got a chance to meet amazing people who not only inspired me but were also super keen to aid with my growth in the long run. Well, ofcourse, not all of it was dreamy. I remember working as long as 10-11 hours fidgeting over a little copy. Spending hours, and even a day or two with a huge creative block shadowing a mere brief. However, that didn't make me despise it. Instead, it only made me fall in love with it more. I knew it was a part of the process and did not hesitate to give in my all. #WhiteRiversMedia #WRM #Advertising #Agency #Agencylife #Internship #Intern #Job #Copywriting #Creativity #DigitalMarketing #Experience

Sometimes you just have to jump into the fire, even when you don’t feel like you’re 100 percent ready. I am sure there are many times I have felt that way in my career, but one particular moment sticks out to me when I was an intern. I had just landed an internship at the daily newspaper in the town I was going to college in and after handling a few feature story assignments, the editor pulled me into his office and said he needed me to attend a City Council meeting the next day. The City Hall reporter was out. This was not only the first government meeting I had ever covered, but there was a huge issue on the agenda. I of course said I would do it and the editor did a great job prepping me. The experience was nerve-racking but I learned a ton, gained confidence and benefited from one of the most thorough edits of anything I have written in my life from the editor. The editor clearly was paying more attention to this story than the feature story I did at the school. That experience taught me that interns or newly-hired graduates need those kind of opportunities but also the right feedback and editing. Yes, don’t create major risk for your brand (I think that editor of mine created some safeguards with me), but provide assignments that help interns learn and stretch. I’m trying to practice that with the interns we get the chance to work with, especially for those who I see big potential with. For example, I asked one intern (the woman featured in the graphic below) who was very skilled in graphics to take a stab at redesigning our company logo, which we’re rolling out soon. And I asked another intern to take on all of the social media work we’re doing with a client who we helped launch a new digital-only niche site. Very much like that editor did for me, I attempt to provide guardrails and feedback so it’s not a scary situation but a positive one. 😊 My internship(s) were so meaningful in my development that I want others to experience the same thing. #Internship #CareerGrowth #LearningExperience 🌱 #EmbraceChallenges 💪 #Mentorship 🤝 #ProfessionalGrowth 📈
