Can you tell apart a great D365 F&O implementation team from a poor one? In this light-hearted article, with a hint of irony, I analyse 9 different roles found in a typical D365 F&O implementation. In particular, I talk about star players (the champs) and deadwood (the chumps). Save yourself some pain by learning how to recognise a dream team from a nightmare squad. An end user client I spoke to last week is in the beginning stages of a D365 F&O implementation and is starting to look at putting together a project team. He’d sought out advice from his external partner and several recruiters, and was overwhelmed by the conflicting opinions on whether to hire in-house or go down the contractor route. Getting it right with your D365 F&O team can make the difference between a successful or unsuccessful project. So once you’ve identified a need for outside D365 F&O support, how do you decide whether to hire internally, use contractors or go with a combination of both? There’s no right or wrong answer, and it really comes down to your company’s individual situation and project. Some things to consider though are: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 🔷 Offer specialized D365 F&O knowledge as and when needed, meaning you can mix and match skillsets with contractors depending on project phase 🔷 Faster onboarding and ramp-up time, so you can quickly scale up or down depending on project needs 🔷 Can be more cost effective for shorter projects 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 🔷 Will have a more in-depth understanding of your business and internal processes 🔷 Build up knowledge throughout project and still there to offer ongoing D365 F&O support once project is complete 🔷 Possibly more invested in company 🔷 Can be more cost effective for longer implementations/projects What else should end users be considering?

Map your requirements and stick to them! This is a simple principle, but it can save your D365 F&O project from scope creep and endless revisions. Without clear, documented requirements: - Clients may keep adding new changes with each progress update - The project risks never reaching completion - Satisfaction becomes a moving target At IT|Fandango, we believe in setting a solid foundation. Our approach: 1. Help clients articulate their needs using our industry expertise 2. Document comprehensive requirements and secure client sign-off 3. Design suitable solutions that align with both client needs and D365 F&O capabilities Remember: evolving requirements are natural, but should be managed through a formal change request process. Don't let your D365 F&O project spiral out of control. Start with clear requirements and watch your implementation succeed.

#ESPC24: SharePoint, Snacks, Stockholm! 🇸🇪 You know that feeling when you're part of something bigger than yourself? That's exactly what #ESPC24 in Stockholm delivered, and I'm still very hyped from the experience! Let me take you behind the scenes of this week that brought together the brightest minds in SharePoint, #Microsoft365, #Copilot and more! This year was extra special as I was part of the Programme team again and I had the incredible opportunity to lead two sessions:a hands-on deep dive into #PowerPlatform on #SharePoint with 🪄 Robin Rosengrün and a “telling you off” look at #Copilot readiness. Watching attendees' eyes light up during the hands-on exercises? Pure gold! Speaking of special moments – ever had that heart-stopping experience when technology decides to take an impromptu break? That's exactly what happened when I was introducing the amazing Dona Sarkar for her keynote. The confidence screen decided it needed a quick power nap. The #DEI lunch session with Miranda Jones, PMP, CSPO was another highlight that showed how our community is growing in all the right directions. There's something powerful about seeing hundreds of nerds coming together for culture and inclusion. Stockholm itself was the perfect backdrop for this (even if the sun played hide and seek, calling it a day at 3 PM 🌒). The Swedish hospitality was next level – though I'm still trying to calculate just how many Swedish treats I managed to sample (let's just say it was a thorough "quality assurance" process). What makes ESPC truly special isn't just the technical sessions or the networking – it's seeing ideas transform into reality. To everyone who made this event possible – from the tireless organizers to the passionate attendees and my fellow speakers and also other Programme team members Paolo Pialorsi, Maarten Eekels, Merethe Stave and Magnus Mårtensson ☁ - thank you for creating magic. Can't wait to see everyone again next year in Dublin ☘️🍀☘️🍀

Picture this: you're nine months into your D365 F&O implementation. The go-live date is looming, yet users keep asking for more customisations. Do you: A) Give in and say yes to every new request B) Double the team size to deal with the extra load C) Stick to out-of-the-box features only from now on Don't bother answering, all options are wrong. Now, who can tell me what should be done here?
