💡What is the 3Bee Environmental Platform? It is an integrated, science-based solution that enables municipalities, #companies and nature parks to improve their impact on nature, #biodiversity and climate by monitoring key risk indicators. 📊 The 3Bee Environmental Platform, whose processes and protocols have been developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency - ESA, was created in response to the growing regulatory and #compliance needs of businesses who now face a new challenge: measuring and reporting their impact on nature, biodiversity and climate to strict regulatory standards. For the first time, the #CSRD Directive and major international reporting standards require companies to adopt a structured approach to managing ecosystem-related risks. The third #SELINAworkshop, part of the Horizon Europe programme, finished last week after three days of insightful presentations, discussions, and networking in Leiden (the Netherlands). As a project member and task leader, SarVision is deeply involved in the technical side of the project. Coordinating a collaborative effort with great partners like VITO, space4environment sàrl, the University of Patras, and the Fundação Gaspar Frutuoso, we are working towards enhancing the spatial and temporal resolution of ecosystem accounts via satellite data. This crucial and exciting work will increase ecosystem accounts' policy relevance and alignment with other monitoring and reporting systems (particularly those of the UNFCCC). Pooling the skills and cutting-edge algorithms of each partner, our task group is developing a methodology, implemented on the island of São Miguel (Portugal) and the Peloponnese (Greece), involving biomass and land cover mapping, NRT radar-based deforestation and forest degradation monitoring, habitat/land-use and change mapping, and integrated ecosystem accounting. Stay tuned as we continue to make strides in environmental conservation and sustainable ecosystem management! #remotesensing #gis #forestconservation #deforestation #mapping #ecosystemservices #carbonmanagement #satelliteimagery #horizoneurope
