The headline "AI Shocks Again" likely refers to recent advancements in various Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects. Here's a breakdown of what we know about some of them mentioned: GPT-5: This is the next generation of OpenAI's Generative Pre-trained Transformer model. It's expected to be a significant leap forward, potentially performing human-level tasks in various fields. The video mentions an 18-month wait for release, though there's no official date. DeepMind V2A (Vision to Action): This could be DeepMind's project on translating visual information into actions. DeepMind is a Google subsidiary known for pushing AI boundaries in areas like games and protein folding. AI BRAIN: This term is broad but could refer to efforts to create an AI with human-like intelligence or capabilities. Many researchers believe Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is still far off. OpenAI Nuclear AI: This sounds like a more provocative term used in the video. OpenAI is known for its focus on safe and beneficial AI development, so "nuclear" might be used to highlight the model's potential power. Here are some resources to learn more (remember these are not directly linked): You can search for "AI Shocks Again: DeepMind V2A, AI BRAIN, OpenAI Nuclear AI, GPT-5 & More (June Monthly News)" to find the video you mentioned. Look up "GPT-5" and "DeepMind V2A" for specific details on those projects. Search for "OpenAI" and "Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)" for a broader understanding of AI research. https://lnkd.in/gJs6D_zb

Are we putting the cart before the horse? In an article found on The Guardian, Max Tegmark, a leading scientist and AI campaigner, warns that big tech has successfully diverted attention from the risks posed by artificial intelligence. Speaking at the AI Summit in Seoul, Tegmark emphasized that the shift from focusing on AI's potential to cause human extinction to broader safety concerns delays crucial regulation. Drawing parallels to the early days of nuclear technology, Tegmark highlighted the urgency of regulating advanced AI models, such as OpenAI's GPT-4, which he views as a warning sign. He argues for governmental safety standards to make sure AI is developed responsibly. Read more on Tegmark's stance in the article below. #AI #regulation #digitalmarketing

𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 - When Mustafa Suleyman explained AI in technical jargon 🤖, his nephew simply responded, '𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. 𝗦𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻?' Mustafa was stumped. In his talk, he shares insights like '𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆. 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴.' Emphasizing that AI is not separate from us; it is us. It's a concept so profound that even a six-year-old can grasp its essence. Let's delve into the fascinating world of AI together. #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #Tech #Innovation #FutureTech #TEDTalks #MachineLearning #DeepLearning #DataScience #DigitalTransformation

"AI is to the mind what nuclear fusion is to energy." Mustafa Suleyman said this in his #TEDTalk on #AI recently. That's not all he said and in spite of the many points he made, this is the one I think perhaps we must all consider most seriously. In the talk, some of the points made were that AIs, through the development of #LLMs and the explosion of compute capacity and technological developments are becoming personal companions, digital beings that can express empathy and apparent intelligence, and they need to be regarded as such. And while the context he used in the opening quote of this post is that AI is "limitless, abundant, world-changing" I look at it even more directly to the point. If nuclear energy is these things (and I'm not claiming he is wrong), why doesn't every household in the world have a nuclear reactor? Because they're heavily regulated, costly to build and maintain, and incredibly dangerous if misused or abused. Again, just like AI. Yet we still move forward with fission and fusion research, albeit cautiously. Analogies aside, the points Mr. Suleyman makes are valid. AI is not going anywhere. Its capabilities to ingest information and synthesize responses is only growing. It can communicate with humans in human language. And for all of these reasons its scale of use is expanding. And for all those reasons, if we view AIs as digital "beings", it helps rationalize the methodology in which businesses need to manage and monitor them. Perhaps this is also why we're seeing Chief AI Officers, and even more prominently, CEOs of AI. Entire human executive branches established solely for the oversight and daily management of these digital creatures created to do our business. A few weeks ago, I posted a dissenting opinion on the use of the title "CAIO" and "CEO of AI" because it began to anthropomorphize what is essentially a set of complex algorithms. If Adam Grant has taught me nothing else, sometimes it's critical to "Think Again." If we are to accept the statements made in this TED Talk and accept our "fate" as coexisting with digital analogs of ourselves, they will indeed need that type of management structure and leadership. Two things though that we have always agreed on: 1. Ethics and responsible AI practices are absolutely essential 2. There is tremendous potential societal good when AI is used responsibly Well worth your 22 minutes to watch and listen.

Did you catch Los Alamos National Laboratory this week at the AI Expo for National Competitiveness? Because if you like artificial intelligence, you won’t want to miss an update on Venado, the newest supercomputer at the lab that’s here to change the game. The Venado system will use AI to completely transform massive computing operations, which take a long time to execute and use huge amounts of power. Venado will speed up and refine the resolution of the simulations. Rather than commit the system to one mission, Venado will be used for a wide range of applications and be a resource for many partners. Whether it’s combatting the effects of climate change, preparing for a future pandemic, or strengthening our nuclear security efforts, Los Alamos is ready for a future that responsibly integrates AI. Warren Buffett is SCARED of AI, But This Expert Calls Him OUT Warren Buffett's recent warning about AI, comparing it to the atomic bomb at Berkshire Hathaway's shareholder meeting, was deemed too pessimistic by Babak Zafari, a Georgetown professor. Buffett expressed fear over AI's potential dangers, particularly fraud, but Zafari argued that AI is more analogous to nuclear power, offering significant benefits alongside substantial risks. Highlighting AI's transformative potential in work and creativity, Zafari acknowledged serious concerns about regulation and misuse but pointed to the internet's evolution as a hopeful precedent. He suggested AI could enhance efficiency and customer engagement in industries like insurance, and while it might shift job roles towards creative and soft skills, it could ultimately improve job satisfaction if managed well.
