Sharing two more speakers from Synapse Conclave. With his deep humanism and understanding of technology, American computer scientist and visual Jaron Lanier wove a narrative that connected the essence of human consciousness with the development and ethical training of artificial intelligence systems. His sessions were a reminder of the need to anchor our technological advancements within the framework of human values and empathy. As we enter the next phase of the ongoing AI spring, it's important to situate governance, regulation, and legislation at the heart and not the periphery of potent models that are being rolled out for public use. Stepping away from our devices to touch grass, on the other hand two talks on the environment stood out to me. I was introduced to the work of #MartinGreen, often referred to as the father of solar technology. Political commentator and author Thomas Friedman gave a compelling talk on mangrove trees. Both talks highlighted the critical importance of sustainable practices and environmental consciousness in our technological and social endeavours. From my perspective, Synapse Conclave was not just a conference; it was a confluence of minds, ideas, and visions for a better future. Being a part of this event, both as a contributor to its visual identity and as an attendee, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The logo and brand identity we designed for Synapse aimed to encapsulate the essence of connectivity, innovation, and the vibrant exchange of ideas. Seeing it come to life and facilitate such a dynamic gathering has been a true highlight for LOPEZ.
