Debunking Misconceptions about Computer Science: One common misconception I've encountered is the belief that computer science is exclusively reserved for those deemed "smart." However, I firmly believe that computer science is an inclusive field, accessible to everyone regardless of background or perceived intelligence. In the enlightening TED Talk "Computer Science is for Everyone," Hadi Partovi stresses the importance of diversity in perspectives and experiences, underscoring how they enrich the field. My own journey in computer science exemplifies this principle. I've had the privilege of learning and growing alongside individuals from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique insights to the table. It's clear to me that computer science is not merely a technical skill—it's a powerful tool for empowerment and innovation. I argue that intelligence is fundamentally situational; the concept of a universal, general intelligence is a misconception fueled by the prevailing mode of production in our society. Our thought processes do not exist in isolation; rather, they are crucial elements of a complex network referred to as society. This network establishes limits that are deeply intertwined with the type of civilization we are part of. Amidst this backdrop, a critical question emerges: Has the advent of artificial intelligence the potential to redefine our way of living and the nature of human thought itself, challenging the constraints imposed by human civilization and our moral standards? I am firmly of the belief that the upcoming years will be crucial in resolving these questions.
