As founders, our average age was about 26 when Priy, Ankit, and I started out together 60 people in, we’re still at ~26 years. It’s been, surprisingly, the FLATTEST curve in shopflo over the last 2-3 years (not kidding, hasn't even varied much month on month) Conventional advice often suggests bringing in experienced leaders to take charge of departments as you grow beyond product-market fit; you know the been-there-done-that kind? Somehow, that didn’t sit well with us. Fundamentally, it felt like if we could do this, then the right person at the same age or experience level could do it too! There’s no denying it—there are places where experience trumps everything, and we continue to double down on that. But for us, the energy, curiosity, and fresh perspectives of a young team turned out to be one of our biggest strengths. So how has it played out so far? BEAUTIFULLY! It’s to our team’s credit that they’ve proved us right time and time again ❤️ Some examples: 1) Having Jazeel and Vasu own everything around our design has been a game-changer. Our UI stood out in an industry that lacked good product design because our team thought beyond "conventional" frameworks 2) With young, driven folks like Arshad and roy 👋 shaping our customer experience from scratch, we reimagined support with a customer-focused and product-first mindset 3) The product powerhouse that Advait and Utkarsh built internally set the standard for extreme obsession towards data-based outcomes and always thinking hard on the WHY Perhaps all of them were in "founder mode" from day one 🚀 Looking back, what seemed like a potential "risk" became a defining factor of who we are and how we build. Clearly, in our 0-1 phase, youth hasn’t been a liability—it has been an advantage. #floBTS P.S. This post is part of our effort to share “𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴” from our journey. Love the energy and fresh perspective your young team brings! It’s inspiring to see how youth-driven innovation is shaping Shopflo’s success. Keep pushing boundaries!
