Being on the other side of hiring I'm getting to see a whole new perspective on the process. Here are a few Do's and Don'ts: ✅ DO reach out to me. Say hello. Ask me questions! (I may not be able to answer all of them though). Whether or not the role works out for you it's always good to stay connected and band together. ❌ DON'T start a chat with me that was clearly written by ChatGPT. C'mon. ✅ DO read our company's mission statement. Make mention of it. Don't be afraid to show that you did your research. I never appreciated how much this helps someone stand out. Really. It's insane! ❌ DON'T write generic statements in your application. Tie everything back to the job you're applying to. Nothing screams, "I don't really care" like reading something I know you've sent to 100 other companies. ✅ DO focus on what you bring to the table. In your resume, give me quantifiable impact. Did you "Spearhead the growth of sales" or did you "Grow sales by 15%"? Action > action words. ❌ DON'T stress about employment gaps (well, at least not with me). If you provide your LinkedIn, I will read your posts. I will look at your history. I will try to put the story together because layoffs happen. So much happens in the recruiting backend that we as applicants never see. Which drives the point I am getting to that sometimes that rejection email or no feedback doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you or your application. *Hiring - Open AM Role for PA/MD/WV* To the legitimate top performers who are bored.... I contend that 'rockstar' is the most overused descriptor for hiring. Prove me wrong. We use that word, this singular adjective, as a lazy megaphone for appealing to top performers. When the truth is, if you actually are a 'rockstar' then job postings on LI are background noise (at best). How about I just post a really honest description of the person I need on my team? My team is comprised of hunters. Really, really good hunters. They enjoy playing offense over defense. They love having superior technology and unseating the incumbent. They have charisma, creativity, and can give a pitch that puts 'farmer' AMs to shame. And they have fun doing it. I'm looking to add one more. Day 23 of 100: Simple Approach Sometimes simple is the way to go. Recently, I just reached out to some friends in my network and asked. Are you hiring? Does your company work with Agencies and if so who do I need to chat with to get the ball rolling? It never hurts to ask. In the end, if you're hiring top talent, why not collaborate with friends? tl;dr, I'm asking for your help in my job search!!! When I first started in Talent Acquisition, I had no recruiting experience whatsoever. Within months, I learned and supported candidates across the entire tech stack, multiple profiles, and the entire Google product portfolio. I exceeded my goals every quarter, often by double or even triple. I created and implemented strategies to deliver on niche hiring needs. I advocated for candidates and worked on processes to make their hiring more accessible. What I'm more proud of is how I acted as a teammate, leading learning and development for our segment, creating evergreen resources, and planning events such as a team-wide offsite. The first couple of months post-layoffs felt like a big exhale. I hadn't had an extended break from work before, and I used it to go on some bucket list trips, plan my wedding, and spend as many hours outside as possible. I wish I could say the same about the past few. I've tried every tactic in the book. It is ROUGH out here! I've been reluctant to make a post because it felt too vulnerable, and, well, LinkedIn kind of drives me nuts a lot of days. That said, I know I'd make a great addition to any team out there, and I would truly, greatly appreciate any introductions or consideration! I am open to roles in Recruiting, Program Management, Sales, or Marketing -- and have worked across all these areas in the past -- located in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or fully remote.
