IS YOUR LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR JOB? The answer to this question is undeniably YES. But wait, have you ever been in a situation where you felt pressured to choose between your job and your personal life? I am sure you have because it’s a common situation at the work place. On daily basis, many employees face situations where their employer/manager/supervisor expects them to put work above all else. Once a friend shared her experience where her supervisor expected her to prioritize work over a doctor's appointment, and She was told that the company "is not a Charity”. I believe that our well-being and personal lives are just as important as our professional ones. What if we create a culture that values work-life balance, empathy, and support? Is it possible? What’s your experience at the work place on employee well-being? How are you prioritizing your well-being? Have you ever been pressured to choose between your job and your well-being/personal life?? Share your thoughts with me in the comments. Let’s have a conversation on this important and common situation at the work place. My name is Rachel, pronounced Raychel. I remain your guide through the world of work and I offer you assistance on your career and personal development.

As a corporate girlie, I've learned the importance of stepping back and seeing the bigger picture. Especially as a manager interacting with various people at different levels, it's crucial to navigate the waters wisely, discerning what to absorb and what to ignore. I've also discovered the value of taking time off to reconnect with my inner self and avoid losing myself in the whirlwind of corporate life. Here's what I've learned so far: The power of perspective: Taking a step back allows me to see the bigger picture and make more informed decisions. The art of discernment: Interacting with diverse individuals at different levels has taught me the importance of listening attentively and discerning what to absorb and what to ignore. The importance of self-care: Taking time off to recharge and reconnect with myself helps me stay grounded and focused. The value of continuous learning: Embracing a growth mindset allows me to adapt and thrive in a constantly evolving corporate landscape. If I could talk to me younger self, I'd tell her that taking care of yourself is not selfish; it's essential for your success and well-being. By prioritizing self-care and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, you'll be better equipped to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities that come your way.

Introspect - Ask yourself first ! It's our appraisal time and each one of you are busy in preparing your goal sheets, appraisal docs etc. Before we copy paste our previous goal sheets 😁 , plz stop for a while and reflect on the following aspects. 1.What were your key contributions? 2.Did you enjoy learning ? 3. Were you able to add significance in the "way you are" against "what you were" at the end and start of the years respectively. 4.Were your suggestions accepted or were you able to converge your views with a majority of key stakeholders. 5. Were there any firefighting issues and how smooth or effective you were able to manage it. 6. Was your excitement to work remained high the entire year.? 7. Were you able to demonstrate highest of your capabilities? 8. Was there any weakness which you indentified and you wished to overcome it this year? 9.Were you 100% genuine to yourself. 10. Most importantly, were you happy and joyful, were you able to have a great work life balance. Rate 😇yourself first fairly on the above 10 aspects. This is your life rating, don't benchmark yourself with your HR / corporate ratings. #hr #ratings #linkedin

I love building processes, but I care about something else more. The promotions of the leaders who we build them with. One of my core values is "Leave people better off". Helping businesses is great, but helping people grow their careers is better. When a client is given a promotion because they can clearly show how a process improved under our watch, I am grinning from ear to ear. I really believe that business can be a force of good for people to make impact in their communities and provide for their families. That promotion means that they can afford more for their family, have better work life balance, find more joy in work, and hire more people. It lights me up. That's why I'm documenting the process work we've done for clients. So I can more consistently leave people better off. If you're driven by the same goal, check out my process playbook. You can find it in the link in the comments below. Let's make better processes that make people's lives better.
