🌍 Spotlight on the European Underground & Tunnel Forum (EUTF): Pioneering the Future of Tunnelling and Underground Space 🌍 As part of the 10th ITA Tunnelling Awards and the 50th Anniversary of SIG - Società Italiana Gallerie, we had the pleasure of meeting the EUTF — a groundbreaking initiative by the founding countries of ITA-AITES Representing Austria, Belgium (ABTUS-BVOTS - the belgian tunnel association -), France (AFTES), Germany (German Tunnelling Committee (DAUB)), Italy (SIG - Società Italiana Gallerie), Portugal (CPT - Comissão Portuguesa de Túneis e do Espaço Subterrâneo), Netherlands (Department of Tunnelling and Underground Works of KIVI NIRIA), Spain (AETOS, Asociación Española de Túneles y Obras Subterráneas), and Switzerland (Swiss Tunnelling Society), the EUTF is dedicated to shaping the future of the tunnelling and underground space profession with a focus on: 1️⃣ Standards impacting tunnelling and underground space development 2️⃣ BIM and Digitalisation across the lifecycle of underground projects 3️⃣ Maintenance and renovation of tunnels and underground spaces 4️⃣ Sustainability strategies for underground infrastructure These initiatives resonate deeply with Australia’s values and aspirations for advancing the tunnelling industry. The Australian Tunnelling Society is eager to support this transformative movement and is committed to bringing the EUTF to the World Tunnel Congress 2028 - Brisbane By hosting the EUTF's collaborative works, we aim to foster similar initiatives across the Australasian and Pacific region, empowering local professionals and students to drive progress in underground engineering and sustainability. ❗ Update on the CAMINO Project! 🔎 The project partners have been working closely together to achieve the first steps of the project: ROSAS is simulating specific deployment scenarios in the areas of Gemeente Almere and De Lijn, with the aim of finding out the impact of the deployment of automated vehicle fleets in these areas. 🚌 You can read more about the update here in the post:

🚆 UIC’s 34th Middle East Regional Assembly: Advancing Rail Cooperation and Innovation 🌍   On 28 November 2024, UIC’s Middle East Regional Assembly (RAME) gathered in Istanbul, bringing together railway leaders to strengthen regional collaboration and discuss key projects shaping the future of rail in the Middle East.   💡 Highlights of the Assembly: 👉 Project Updates: Progress on UIC Standardization, hydrogen safety (H2TR), climate resilience (RERA), and the Security Expert Network. 👉 New Initiatives: Introducing FRMCS communication standards and a proposed Wheel Testing Center. 👉 Capacity Building: The Middle East Railway Training Centre (MERTCe) showcased recent programs and planned upcoming training on station management and commuter services.   The Assembly reaffirmed its vision for sustainable and innovative rail solutions.   UIC’s RAME continues to be a leader in driving regional rail innovation and collaboration.   #UICrail #Innovation #Sustainability
