🚨While #renewableenergy is set to overtake fossil fuels, new International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) report underscores the urgent need to increase renewables deployment by 16.4% annually till 2030. Commenting on the report, COP28 UAE President, Dr Sultan Al Jaber stressed that we are off track to meet the #3xRenewables target. "We need to increase the pace and scale of development. That means increasing collaboration between governments, the private sector, multilateral organisations and civil society." Read: bit.ly/4cUN6we

Green hydrogen is key to reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as long-distance trucking. Across the world there are many efforts to promote the utilisation of green hydrogen. In Europe, there is regulation that points toward decarbonising heavy transportation. Yet, whether in Europe or worldwide, to ensure hydrogen projects secure long-term financing and gain the best possible chance for success, consistency and certainty of production secured by affordable renewable energy is paramount… So, imagine, what a game changer it would be if there was a rapidly deployable low-cost, low-impact and scalable renewable energy that can deliver 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Imagine it having a fraction of the footprint of other renewables, with the lowest levelised cost of electricity….that would do! The goal set at COP28 in Dubai to triple renewables and double energy efficiency by 2030 is “within reach.” However, coordinated global efforts are needed to achieve it. 📌 The priorities? Electrical grids, storage, and regulatory simplifications. Specifically: - Faster but responsible authorization procedures. - The construction or modernization of over 25 million kilometers of electrical grids by 2030. - Increasing global energy storage capacity to 1,500 GW by 2030. 🔎 The International Energy Agency (IEA) supports this in the report “From Taking Stock to Taking Action: How to Implement the COP28 Energy Goals,“ in which the agency, led by Fatih Birol, assesses the global efforts to accelerate renewable energy development one year after the decision to triple renewables and double energy efficiency by 2030 made during the climate summit in the UAE. ➡️ Full Article: https://lnkd.in/dA7HwXgD #RinnovabiliNET #environmnent #greeneconomy #solar #eolic #energy #greenenergy #solarenergy #windenergy #sustainable #sustainablity #sustainabledevelopment
