The latest SEEK Employment Dashboard for April 2024 reveals statistics that shed light on Australia's dynamic job market. According to the report: Job Opportunities: April witnessed an 18.6% decline in job ads nationwide compared to last indicating a tight market. However, this decline has started to ease as we transition into May with organisations adapting to market shifts and competition. This is encouraging news for my HR network! Stay optimistic as we are witnessing positive changes, especially for those in the Senior HR roles! 🌟 These insights are great for refining talent acquisition strategies and staying ahead in a competitive job market. #HRinsights #talentacquisition #jobmarkettrends #HRleaders #SEEKAustralia #millerleith

In the race for new talent, will employers be able to catch up? Reflecting on this, Grant Aitken, our National Sales Manager, reminisced about a presentation by Bernard Salt, a renowned demographer, in early 2022. Salt provided insights into the labour market, particularly the effects of COVID-19 and the significant impact of closed borders, which halted the annual influx of around 300,000 people from overseas. This meant that about 600,000 people were unable to enter Australia within two years. "You may ask why this is relevant to the employment market. Throughout this period when we removed the international candidate pool, COVID-19 impacted several industries including Aviation, Tourism, Fuel Retailing and Food and Beverage services," said Grant. "Conversely, other sectors either saw growth or remained stable." However, Grant pointed out that the market has since softened, referencing the latest Australian Jobs Report: ➡️ Job vacancies decreased by 4.6% ➡️ This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of decline ➡️ Over the past year, job vacancies have dropped by 22.1% ➡️ There was a significant 14.7% decrease in flexible job vacancies ➡️ Permanent vacancies decreased by 1.5% Yet, a critical statistic indicates that we are still in a candidate-short market, with job ads slightly increasing by 0.2% or 400 job ads in March to stand at 249,000. "Vacancy numbers remain at record levels. More than 50% more ads in the labour market presently compared with the monthly average for 2019. This shows that the need for employers to be reviewing their Employee Value Proposition has never been more important to attract and retain talent," says Grant. "In our discussions with clients, this is a key point in every meeting. Examples of what we are seeing are flexible working conditions, weekly staff lunches and a key focus on learning and development," explained Grant. 📊 UK Jobs Update: A Closer Look at the Latest Trends The latest data from the KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs reveals an interesting shift in the employment market that’s catching the attention of both employers and candidates. 📈 Candidate availability is on the rise again in July, with more individuals entering the job market due to increased redundancies and fewer vacancies. This surge in availability has led to a slowdown in wage growth for both permanent and temporary positions. 💼 While salaries are still climbing, the pace has eased slightly compared to previous months. This reflects the broader trend where employers are carefully managing costs in response to ongoing economic uncertainty. 💷 For our clients, particularly those in sectors like IT, Engineering, Office, and Contact Centre, this could signal an opportune time to secure top talent, as the competition for skilled workers might be less intense than before. 🛠️ However, the disparity in demand across regions and industries means that a tailored approach is crucial. 🌍 At KPPS, we're closely monitoring these trends to help our clients navigate this shifting landscape and make informed recruitment decisions. 🤝 Whether you’re looking to hire or explore new opportunities, our team is here to support you every step of the way. 🚀 #UKJobs #Recruitment #JobMarket #TalentAcquisition #WageTrends #EconomicUpdate #KPPS #KingdomPeople

🔍 Navigating trends in Aotearoa New Zealand's job market with strategic insights for the current climate. As the latest SEEK Employment Dashboard indicated, there's been a marked decrease in job advertisements across the motu this year. This presents a unique strategic opportunity for business leaders and hiring managers to refine recruitment approaches and solidify teams. What should you do? ✨ Be selective in talent sourcing: With overall job ads down, the focus shifts towards quality rather than quantity. This environment allows for more deliberate hiring, targeting roles that directly contribute to strategic goals and long-term growth. ✨ Competitive salary benchmarking: Despite the decline in ads, the need for specifically skilled professionals remains high. Ensuring your offers are aligned with these trends is crucial to attract and retain top talent. ✨ Investment in retention and upskilling: Utilise this quieter period to invest in your current workforce. Training and development improve skills, employee engagement and loyalty, crucial in a tight market. Now is a time to leverage this unique market phase to strengthen teams and prepare for the future. By adopting a data-informed approach, you can be set up for success when the market rebounds. https://lnkd.in/gATk68De #nzjobs #recruitmentnz #talentmanagement #hrnz #newzealandbusiness #techjobsnz #fintechjobs #manufacturingjobs #salarytrends #workforceplanning
