What is #Dysautonomia? I am sharing this post to help bring awareness to what is still such a mysterious disease. My good friend Rob Norwood’s mother, Shannon has been through a challenging journey with #Dysautonomia and she continues to fight with high spirit and hope. If I can bring just a little bit more exposure to this disease in hopes that if you are anyone you love is impacted, then more people can can come together to support and help find better treatments and eventually a cure! All love to Shannon Norwood and her son, Rob who has been an incredible advocate of awareness and support! #Dysautonomia #DysautonomiaAwareness #ChronicIllness #InvisibleIllness #AutonomicDysfunction #ChronicPain
Dysautonomia Awareness 🩺 Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe any disorder of the autonomic nervous system. 🌎 The condition impacts 70 million people globally but is not very well known. 🕚 It can take 5+ years for those with the condition to receive an accurate diagnosis. Shannon Norwood = An Inspiration My mother, Shannon Norwood, was diagnosed with dysautonomia in 2014. The condition has negatively impacted her quality of life in a meaningful way but it hasn’t broken her spirit. She prays that awareness leads to faster diagnoses for others, alleviated symptoms for many, and eventually a cure for all. Awareness Efforts 💡 The Atlanta skyline was recently lit in turquoise for the fifth consecutive year in conjunction with dysautonomia awareness month. 📢 Last year’s LinkedIn post made 15,000+ impressions and was shared by individuals across 5 continents. Your Impact I’ve received messages from people around the world informing me that your shares, likes, and reposts, led to them realizing a loved one might be living with dysautonomia without a diagnosis. A sincere thanks to all who continue to help raise awareness again this year.
