East Renfrewshire Accelerator, our support programme for local businesses, is now well underway. As part of the programme, the ERA businesses will attend a variety of business workshops with industry experts throughout the year – the most recent session was on financial planning which covered planning, budgeting and strategy and was led by Business Gateway East Renfrewshire. We’re already seeing some fantastic developments and updates from the ERA businesses – here’s just a snap shot of what’s been happening: - Must Media has been busy meeting with a number of potential new customers, - Safe Place Beds will be attending a trade show in London and is aiming to break into the German market, - Setting Out For Construction has a new website in development, - Kelly Properties has recruited an additional member of staff, - MedSnapp is undergoing an exciting rebrand, - and WattMelon had a successful trip to China to meet with suppliers Lots of this progress has been possible through Council funding and grants, and the expert advice and support they’ve been receiving from Business Gateway East Renfrewshire. This morning our team attended a great event hosted by Salford Innovation Forum and Artur Grzybowski where we explored and learnt about the GM funding landscape. We heard from a knowledgeable panel which included Dr. Vikas Shah MBE DL, Wendy Smith from Innovate UK and George Mensah from Sure Valley Ventures. Some key takeaways for businesses looking to access funding included: ✔️Grow your network and don’t be afraid to make connections (even beyond Manchester). ✔️Establish a strong governance structure early on. ✔️Do your due diligence on potential funders. ✔️Have clarity on what exactly you need funding for and the milestones you’d like to achieve.
