How can the US Army leverage AI at the tactical level? One obvious answer to me is sustainment planning. Sustainment planning at the tactical level should be data-driven, but oftentimes is not. I see this area as a place where human-machine teaming can greatly increase current capabilities. The analytical power of AI coupled with the intuition and experience of the human operator will make quick work of problems that currently require hours of data analysis and planning. The Army has the data and AI has the capability. Now combine those into a program that has a simple user interface. I’m sure somebody is working on this exact problem currently and I hope it’s great. #armysoftware

Thanks to NGA and Saint Louis university for arranging geo-resolution 2024. It has really highlighted the importance of adding the geospatial perspective to collected data. AI will become pivotal to create insights from the exponentially growing amount of data, mostly with a position. This is true for a surgeon, a city planner, and specifically for the armed forces.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Dr. John Seel, Distinguished Engineer for Data Sciences at NSWCDD, recently had the opportunity to join a panel and speak with NextGov/FCW about the revolutionary impact of bringing artificial intelligence (AI) to the edge. NextGov/FCW connects the federal IT community online, in print, and through a wide range of face-to-face events. "NSWCDD and the Navy are working to provide edge solutions that increase the commander's ability to make decisions with the right information, at the right point in time, under the harshest conditions," said Seel. Seel shared key insights on: 🔹 Enhancing Operations with AI: AI is crucial for the future operations and is the most critical capability we can leverage. 🔹 Deploying AI at the Edge: Systems need to identify and report new anomalies while managing the environment intelligently. 🔹 AI Workforce Snapshot: Today's workforce is different compared to the workforce of five years ago. You know when you picture a big moment going one way but nothing ever goes as planned? I had one of those moments when I stepped on stage way too early and made it awkward for Mr. Schatz the Director for Studies & Analysis, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force but heres a video clip of that happening for your entertainment. I was blessed to be able to accept the Air Force Combat Analyst of The Year Award, which in reality was a team award based on all of the collaborative work the NRO has done with our Pacific and European forces. Getting to work in theater at both locations and deploying AI/ML capabilities that were then leveraged immediately by the warfighter was a sensational experience that highlights exactly why young Data Scientists should join the Air Force. I urge our DOD leaders to create more operationally impactful opportunities like this. This is what we want to do as Data Scientists! This is how we get to make the world a better place! Here is the write up they read on stage after the little hiccup in the beginning: Lt Abubaker deployed an artificial intelligence model to detect critical objects for the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade to save soldiers 2,100 hours a month of manual labor. He created a machine learning model to predict adversary air maneuvers that was the first effective product to provide accurate indicators and warnings to INDOPACOM.
