Last week the Group Clubs organised and presented an afternoon of presentations to the LLM in International Maritime Law students from the Institute of International Shipping & Trade Law, Swansea University at the London P&I Club office in London. It was a pleasure to meet the student attendees, greet Professor Tabetha Kurtz-Shefford and Professor George Leloudas, and listen to presentations from experts in UW, Claims and LP: Chris Adie, John Warman and Petar Modev. #MarineInsurance #PandI #PandIQ
Our LLM students were treated to a fantastic seminar on P&I Clubs yesterday, thanks to the generosity and expertise of Annie Stow, the London P&I Club, and the International Group of P&I Clubs. Apart from Annie, who is the guiding force behind these educational experiences, we are particularly indebted to James Bean and John Warman from the London Club for hosting and inspiring our students to consider claims careers within the P&I sector, Chris Adie of the West for providing a unique perspective on the underwriting factors involved in the placement process, and Petar Modev of the UK P&I Club for highlighting the critical role of loss prevention. Dr Tabetha Kurtz-Shefford and Professor George Leloudas, who joined our students (with Xinge Li), said, "This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry. By providing our students with direct access to leading practitioners, we ensure they are well-equipped to tackle the challenges of the ever-evolving legal landscape. We are grateful to Annie and look forward to welcoming her to Swansea next year.".
