All eyes on Australia today, as the government introduces proposed legislation to parliament which is "set to revolutionise Australia's cyber security preparedness". The new laws would include a requirement for victims of ransomware attacks to report their ransom payments to the authorities. The plan is that this information will help the government to track cyber criminal activities and measure how much money is being lost to ransomware. Could Australia be setting the blueprint for other nations? Only time will tell. 🚨 Cybersecurity Alert for Gibraltar Businesses 🚨 In recent days, Gibraltar has been targeted by cybercriminals impersonating representatives from NatWest Bank and Gibraltar International Bank. These attackers have successfully infiltrated several devices under the guise of assisting Gibraltar businesses, gaining access to online banking systems and stealing well over £1 million. We need to increase awareness of the growing cyber threat in Gibraltar. A number of our clients have implemented Zero Trust technology, which effectively prevents unauthorized remote access to be installed on their machines. This advanced security measure ensures that any request to install software or access critical systems is escalated for authorization, providing an essential layer of protection. Zero Trust technology is currently the most robust solution available for mitigating these types of threats. If you’ve already been targeted, it may be too late. If you haven’t, now is the time to prepare—it's not a matter of if but when. At Netgear Business we are dedicated to helping Gibraltar’s businesses secure their systems and protect their valuable data. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Contact us today to discuss how we can enhance your cybersecurity and safeguard your operations. Stay safe, Gibraltar. #CyberSecurity #Gibraltar #ZeroTrust #BusinessProtection #NetgearBusiness

At NSB Cyber, we support the Australian government's recommendation against paying ransoms in response to ransomware attacks, as these payments can fuel further criminal activities and often do not ensure the recovery of crucial data. However, we recognise that businesses can face extraordinarily difficult decisions when essential data is threatened. In these moments, some companies might feel compelled to consider payment as a last resort. As part of our Cyber Threat Actor (CTA) Engagement Services, we offer enhanced capabilities that enable businesses to conduct due diligence and assess the risks associated with interacting with various cyber threat actors. Leveraging the unique data of TRM Labs, we provide real-time analysis and insight into the digital assets and exposures (i.e. sanctions) involved in a ransomware situation, enhancing our clients’ abilities to make decisions that align with regulatory requirements, good practices in cybersecurity and commensurate with their risk appetite. For more information on our CTA Engagement Services, or our broader Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) Service offering, please reach out to intelligence@nsbcyber.com. #cybersimplified #defendwithconfidence #nostepsbackward

TfL Hack - what you need to know📢 The recent cyber attack on Transport for London exposed sensitive customer data, including names, contact details, and bank information - This week a 17-year-old was arrested for his involvement - should that concern us? Firstly, the good news. TfL quickly collaborated with the National Crime Agency (NCA) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to mitigate the situation, meeting their legal obligations by promptly informing affected customers and maintaining transparency. However, this incident highlights a broader concern - if even a well-funded organisation like TfL can be breached, is the wider public sector sufficiently equipped to handle cyber threats? This isn’t an isolated incident. We recently shared the news of the Tewkesbury Council cyber attack and it's clear that public sector organisations repeatedly find themselves in the crosshairs of hackers. Why? The amount of personal data being managed, their reliance on legacy systems and limited cyber security budgets are all factors. Public institutions are waking up to the need to evaluate their cyber security posture to understand their vulnerabilities - it's one of the reasons our Cybercy Check is becoming so popular as it simplifies the process for them. What do you think? Should improving cyber protection of our public services be a priority for the Government? ----------------------- Get your Cybercy Check here: https://shorturl.at/iqWdB #cybersecurity #TfL #publicsector #datasecurity #infosec #NCA #NCSC #cyberattack Transport for London National Cyber Security Centre
