Talking about depression can be so hard. Your healthcare team has your best interest in mind and wants to help you achieve your treatment goals on your Journey to Hope. So, it's important to maintain an open line of communication with them. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) offers a few suggestions: 1. No one knows what it feels like to be you or live in your body. YOU are the most important decision maker regarding treatment. 2. Don't be afraid to ask questions! Make a list of topics to ask your doctor about before starting treatment, during treatment, or before deciding to change treatments. 3. Honesty is the best policy and you will ultimately benefit from it. Your healthcare team should support you through challenges, setbacks and successes.
