CFP and early bird ticket is open for NZ Tech Rally 2024! Our team felt that it's important to acknowledge the things that are happening in our software industry, and learn from those working through it. Hence the somewhat spicy theme. It's something I'm personally grappling with. I wasn't made redundant, but I know people who have. I've also been personally impacted by constant restructures and uncertainties. NZ Tech Rally team found ourselves wondering: - Why all the constant restructures, especially after redundancies? - Is this experience different in Kiwi organisations compared to overseas? - How have you adapted with less? - What helped you through these changes? - Does this change the way you code or design your software? - How do you prevent degraded experience for your users through all this? - What was it like to be a manager who had to let your software people go while keeping the lights on? - Any impact on DEI? - What does your team look like today? - What could we have done different? - What can we do to prepare for that next round of sweeping changes? So many questions. So many of you have stories and lessons to share. I'd love to hear your takes from all angles: managing yourself, managing product, managing team, managing codebases, managing infrastructure, serving customers, etc. Lets rally the whole software team to discuss how to move forward with hope. Reach out to me, Aaron Hodder, or Camy Bhandari directly if you want to chat through your talk idea! #NZTechRally2024 #Conference #CFP #CallForProposals

It was delightful to work on the design and layout of this accessible PDF/UA report document, which is a consultative review of the rATA survey and implementation of assistive technology. The review was conducted to inform further development and use of the rATA survey. This includes evaluating data collection methods, country support, analysis, and dissemination. The report presents recommendations to improve measuring access to assistive technology. The findings and recommendations are relevant to stakeholders interested in assessing the need for and access to assistive technology. https://lnkd.in/dt9T8N2a #accessibledesign #accessibilitymatters

Designing computer systems is often more straightforward than undergoing the review process with the council. It takes real courage and conviction to present your design and face the scrutiny. Those who persevere through and succeed truly become masters. 🚀 #ARB #techcouncil

If you are keen on agentic workflows, tools, and infrastructure, you should subscribe to our new Substack -> The Agentic Edge! My colleague Edward Keeble's latest post discusses the parallels between computational fluid dynamics and message personalization. Ed shares insights from a recent refactor of Aampe's Personalization Map, demonstrating how understanding the underlying rules of a system can lead to more efficient and scalable solutions. He explains how they moved from generating every possible message combination to a more intelligent approach, resulting in significant performance improvements. This piece is a great example of how cross-disciplinary thinking can spark software development and data analysis innovation. Don't miss out on this and more valuable insights via our newsletter when subscribing to the Substack!

Together with HSLU we conducted a short survey amongst finance professionals to obtain an indication on how Finance and Treasury is or should be involved in Web3 initiatives. The report addresses the following questions: • What is the current position of the Finance organization in Switzerland regarding the adoption of Web3 applications within the company? • How does the integration of Web3 applications as a new revenue model impact the operations of your Finance department? • How should the Finance organization be engaged - on the field or on the sideline? This report showcases key insights from industry peers and practical considerations on how finance departments, especially treasury, could be involved in corporate Web3 initiatives. 📋 Download the full report below Thank you to all that contributed and in particular Mascha Steenblock, Benjamin Banusch, Darko Stefanoski, Orkan Sahin, Maxime Ochrymowicz, Wolter Jalink, Frederik Schmachtenberg and Dr. Thomas K.
