🧘♀️ "Across the study’s large population, none of the other offerings — apps, coaching, relaxation classes, courses in time management or financial health — had any positive effect. Trainings on resilience and stress management actually appeared to have a negative effect." 💡 This discovery comes as no surprise. Organisations must prioritise wellbeing by improving job design, workplace culture, and organisational practices. Relying on band-aid solutions is not the answer; it's crucial to address the root causes of stress. Interestingly, Gallup's February 2022 study indicates that "fully remote workers are experiencing less burnout than all other remote-capable employees, while fully on-site workers have the highest burnout." 🚀 Addressing root causes of stress and/or introducing better flexible workplace policies is the way. #wellbeing #hybridwork #remotework #organizationaldevelopment https://lnkd.in/gJzGRKpB

Canada’s approach to workplace wellbeing is inspiring! As Dr. Georgia Pomaki from Manulife points out, there’s been a positive shift toward prioritizing psychological health and safety, though progress is ongoing. From mental health training for leaders to enhanced benefits like $12,000 annually for mental health services, organizations are stepping up to close the gap. This growing emphasis on psychological safety recognizes that stress from unclear job roles or heavy workloads impacts both mental and physical health. By fostering environments where employees feel supported and valued, companies aren’t just protecting their people—they’re building a foundation for success. Canada’s example reminds us that workplace wellbeing is a continuous journey. https://lnkd.in/gfyFhP2B #WeekendWellbeing #MentalHealth #Leadership #WorkplaceWellbeing

🌍 World Mental Health Day 2024: Prioritizing Mental Health at Work 🌍 This World Mental Health Day, the theme is “Mental Health at Work,” and it's more important than ever to reflect on how our professional environments impact our well-being. As many of us navigate increasingly digital workplaces, we face new challenges and opportunities when it comes to mental health. Whether it’s remote work, constant connectivity, or the pressure to always be "on," our workspaces—both physical and virtual—affect us deeply. 🧠 The Impact of Digital Overload: With emails, notifications, and virtual meetings, we’re more connected than ever. But this can lead to burnout if we don’t set boundaries. It’s essential to manage screen time and create tech-free zones during the day. Here are some practical solutions to foster a healthier, more balanced work environment: 🧠 Combat Digital Overload with Boundaries: With emails, notifications, and virtual meetings filling our days, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. To prevent burnout, setting clear boundaries, such as dedicated "offline" hours, can help maintain a healthy work-life balance. 💬 Encourage Open Conversations: A supportive work culture begins with open communication. Employers should foster an environment where employees feel safe to talk about mental health challenges—without fear of judgment. This reduces stigma and builds trust. 🛠 Leverage Tech for Wellness: Technology can also be a tool for mental well-being. Offering access to mental health apps, virtual therapy, and wellness programs can make support accessible to all employees, no matter where they work. 📚 Promote Digital and Internet Maturity: Educating employees on internet maturity—the mindful and responsible use of digital tools—is essential. Encouraging employees to be aware of how constant connectivity affects them and to practice mindful usage of technology helps reduce stress and anxiety. 🌱 Focus on Flexibility and Autonomy: Offering flexible working hours and autonomy over how tasks are completed can significantly reduce stress. Empowering employees to take breaks, adjust their workspaces, or engage in creative problem-solving boosts both productivity and well-being. On World Mental Health Day, let’s work together to create supportive, balanced workplaces where mental health is as important as productivity. By embracing these solutions, we can build environments that help us thrive both professionally and personally. 💡 #WorldMentalHealthDay2024 #MentalHealthAtWork #WorkplaceWellbeing #InternetMaturity #DigitalWellbeing #WorkLifeBalance #HealthyWorkEnvironment #cyberpsychology

In 2024, employees see flexible work as a mental health benefit Employees are increasingly looking to flexible work arrangements as a solution to address their mental well-being. The ability to control one's schedule or work from home are highly desired benefits employees see as helping them reduce stress, enhance work-life balance, and improve overall mental health. Flexible work arrangements can be seen by employers as not only an avenue for improving mental health, but also fostering a culture of workplace empathy — one of the most powerful antidotes to the mental stress and toxicity that degrades workplace culture and ultimately, performance and productivity. #employeebenefits #strongworkforce #mentalhealth

How do you support your employees who work remotely? For employees who are mostly or fully remote, the absence of a physical workplace can lead to feelings of isolation and a distorted work-life balance. In my opinion, the workplace needs to change. There was an opportunity during the height of the COVID pandemic with more flexibility, increased wages, and remote work. Yet since there has been a lot of backsliding. Instead, more workplaces are offering wellness benefits which are nice incentives, don't get me wrong I like my meditation apps, but as the article says “if you’re seriously trying to drive employees' well-being, then it has to be about working practices.” (Dr. Fleming, Oxford University’s Wellbeing Research Center) #remotework #flexibleworking #4dayworkweek #equalpayforequalwork

In this new era of flexibility, where the lines between work and personal life are often blurred, creating a culture that prioritizes mental health, personal time, and overall wellbeing is more critical than ever. It’s about more than offering perks; it’s about fostering a true sense of belonging, where employees feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive—both at work and in their personal lives. In a hybrid model, the risk of burnout is real. Without face-to-face interactions and the natural boundaries that office environments once provided, many employees are finding it harder to disconnect, leading to overwhelming stress and mental fatigue. That’s why, as leaders and organizations, we must go beyond just providing “time off” and start embedding wellbeing into the core of our culture. Here are a few ways we can invest in the wellbeing of our teams: 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀– Ensure employees have access to counseling services, stress management programs, and mental health days. This empowers them to prioritize their mental health without the fear of stigma. 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 – Flexibility is a cornerstone of the hybrid model. Allow employees to work when they are most productive and take personal time as needed to prevent burnout. 𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻– In a remote environment, it can be easy to feel isolated. Create spaces—whether virtual or in-person—for employees to connect, collaborate, and build relationships beyond just work tasks. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝗶𝗻𝘀 – Leaders should actively check in with teams, not just about work progress, but about how they are feeling. A simple conversation about wellbeing can make a world of difference. 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳 – Encourage employees to fully disconnect when they take time off. It’s not just about the days—they need to truly recharge without the pressure of checking emails or working through vacations. By prioritizing the wellbeing of our teams, we aren’t just preventing burnout—we’re building a strong, resilient culture where employees feel seen, supported, and ready to contribute their best. In the hybrid work era, this kind of investment isn't just good for employees—it’s good for the business. When people thrive, organizations thrive. A healthy future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealth #WorkLifeBalance #HybridWork #EmployeeWellbeing #Leadership #HumanResources #CorporateCulture #FlexibleWork #RemoteWork #BurnoutPrevention
